The flood parts in stage 2 and the medusa tower and platforming around the tower in stage 3 sucked, but the rest of the game's level design is alright.

You just need to jump and nothing else, the medusa heads won't even try to touch you if you jump in time when the platforms above appear.
The "platforming" surrounding the tower is even worse though. I like the flying enemies but they could be a bit less obvious in their pattern.

I guess it depends on each person, but I find Rondo and Bloodlines to be on par (if not easier) than 4.
I also think Castlevania 1 is fairly easy, but probably that's because I've played it a lot of times. In fact, that's probably why we find all those games easy, we've played them a lot.
A newcomer will find any of them harder than the average game.

Beat it on normal with John. Started playing expert with Eric and left off at the beginning of the Germany stage. I'll pick back up tonight.

I gotta ask something to all the Bloodlines fans out there. Other than wanting to play with the traditional whip, does anyone prefer John over Eric? His swinging technique is hardly used or useful unlike Eric's high jump.

It's useful(or cheap depending on how you view it) in other areas unlike johns swing. I was able to practically skip the vertical gear area in Germany with his high jump. Playing with Eric is definitely playing with the game on easy.

Pretty much how I see it also. Could of done a lot more with it making playing as both characters more unique.
