Agreed. N64 games look and sound like shit. Resident Evil 2's N64 port is a travesty, the FMVs are so compressed they look like they were filmed on a potato and the sound quality makes my ears bleed.

Yeah, PS1 had better platformers overall. Crash series, Spyro (excl. 1). It also had CTR which is to this day the best kart game.
N64 did have a better Rayman 2 port tho.

Well, heres the thing. N64 has Smash Bros which i still play on a regular basis at my friends house. Its a staple that even my impressive PS1 library can't hold up to. Just that one game alone makes my entire library feel a little shaggy. That having been said, the PS1 is still the better system and the library of games are way more diverse and impressive, but individually N64 has those few select titles such as Conquer and Smash Bros that make even Metal Slug X, G Darius, and tons of others look just not as good.

These are just my FPS. But this is why the PS1 is and will always be better than the N64, and this is only one genre.
