It's lasted for over 13 years, was started by some goon troll living with his mom. The ability to speak so freely as you can on certain boards, full-gamut.

Do people still not understand how utterly unique this is?

It's like I said above, having/voicing certain opinions is now considered a graver offense(even legally in some places, I shit you not) than actually possessing and posting child porn.

Well first off, you have to understand that, as an ideology, that belief system is limited in intelligence. You can only be so smart and believe that a system like that is sustainable in any long-term arrangement. Even actual nazis weren't planning to keep it around indefinitely. But /pol/ pretty much allows any form of political discussion as long as you're not being a very obvious troll. As for those other things, they were either re-allowed, or you could talk about them on /b/ or possibly some other board. The silencer thing was most likely do to admin becoming wary of that topic and banning it until a lawyer was consulted regarding the legality of suppressor discussion, which is legal in the US BTW. Once 4chan's legal dept confirmed this, discussion was allowed once again.

This site walks a fine line and any staff member can be called in to court on a case at any time if a judge demands it so. That's a tough burden to bear considering just how free the posting is allowed to be relative to other clearnet websites.

I don't think that's really true. You have a lot of special moves that affect how far you jump and the height of your jump. Spinning, face plants, jump boxes, jumping off enemies, double jump, and more. You could run when you were riding the warthog, too. Later crash games added more abilities that further affected your movement, I don't know the full list of the top of my head.

Besides that the levels are designed with the physics in mind. It's more important that you move yourself to the right position and get the timing right.

Maybe I need to try it some more, but I didn't see these mechanics such as face plants or double jump. I definitely know about the box jumping, but that seems equivalent to a spring, doesn't really add to the physics, kind of a pre-set movement thing (unlike bouncing off enemies in Mario 2D)

There's more 2d platformers out there besides Mario. For example Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania, games I love, and they don't really involve momentum.

Now that I'm thinking about it Crash 2 at least did have the scooting mechanic that would make you go faster. Crash 3 added a bunch. One of them had a spin ump mechanism, where you could jump high and then spin to make the jump have more horizontal length to it than vertical.

Also even in crash 1 you could run faster or slower on the warthog levels, and I think you would jump further depending on when/how long you held the button.

I'll try Crash 4 cause a spin jump mechanic sounds good and so does controlling jump height

The warthog level I played (i think only one) was fine, but it's kind of like an auto-scroller, you can base the entire game on a concept a few level uses

Now sanic at least looks cool, has some good music and cool sprites. The gameplay was a bit too physics heavy for my taste, but I still would consider sanic above average.

But crash bandicoot is seriously a bad game, with a nice color palette and the jungle theme is nice. But the gameplay is just abysmal. But I guess as long as its furry it finds a rock solid fanbase... but man that game is so incredibly bad...

I've always found it funny how Donkey Kong Country gets praised out the ass for having asspull platforming, but I see the same Nintendo babies try and act like Crash isn't the exact same shit, only occasionally you move on more than one plane at the same time. It's a 2D game most of the damn time.

Also, it's not the Dark Souls of <x> because the games predate Dark Souls by quite a big margin.
