>teleroboxer gets shit on for being a virtual boy game
>arms has the same gameplay and is loved by everyone
Why does everyone forget about teleroboxer, or just magically conclude that it's shit for being on the virtual boy? It's a very fun game. and before a dumbshit janitor flags this as not retro, I'm only using arms to illustrate how obscure teleroboxer is

>> No.4065760

virtual boy didn't sell very well. most people only know that it exists and couldn't name a single game for it.

When did people bash on Teleroboxer?
I've heard it's one of the few good games of the VB

>> No.4065778

It's mostly dumb retro hipsters who have never been anywhere near a virtual boy who are the ones who shit on it because everyone says that it was shit. This applies to the virtual boy as a whole too

As someone who played most of the VB's library in the 90s (including Jack Bros.), I always thought Teleroboxer was trash. VB had a few good games, a few more decent games, and the rest of the games were pretty bad.

you're not fooling anyone

You can believe me or not, I don't care.

My step-sister owned Jack Bros. and I played it on her VB. I don't know if she still does and I don't really care. It wasn't that amazing of a game, just competent at best. I wasn't even aware it was a rare game at the time.

>> No.4065927

Teleroboxer is amazing. Most people who played it love it. It's also very challenging.
My favorite VB game after Wario Land.

>> No.4065934

The biggest issue with Teleroboxer is that it's way too easy to manipulate the AI. It's not as refined as Punch-Out.

Still the second best VB game.

>> No.4065956

it doesn't even look like it plays like teleroboxer. that's what i was expecting it to play like and i was disappointed. it looks more like a shitty virtual on clone with stretchy arms instead of projectiles.

both are super good and have a lot in common, even in terms of gameplay imo

Once again I haven't seen anyone - hipster or other wise - actually say this about Teleroboxer. I want some examples. Dredge up two or three from youtube or I'm officially labeling you a Strawmanning Piece of Shit.

>he thinks I care about his opinion
read or watch ANY millenial hipster website review of the virtual boy

here's one: "Convoluted controls and unbalanced difficulty prevented the game from ever reaching its potential, but it made better use of the Virtual Boy's 3D capabilities than the vast majority of its peers."

Funny enough your description made me interested in it considering I'm very interested in the Virtual On franchise. I wouldn't get a Switch just for that game but it's nice to know.

Neither would I get a Virtual Boy (god those things have become expensive) but if Nintendo ever decides to put them on VC or remake some of them then both Teleroboxer and Wario Land VB would be awesome.

That sounds accurate to how I remember Teleroboxer.

There's nothing "convulted" about the controls, they're as natural as they get. Use left d-pad for left arm, and right d-pad for right arm.

Arms is waggle shit 2.0. That's why.

Right, convoluted. Think about where everyone was coming from: a single d-pad on the left for movement and buttons on the right. People were used to Punch-Out!!. Then Teleroboxer comes along and it controls completely different from anything else out there.

>> No.4067124

>>4066948
It controls the same as your body. Left=left, right=right.

I was genuinely hoping for either a Teleroboxer or a Joy Mech Fight reference in this game.

>> No.4067256

>>4067124
That's irrelevant in a video game context. People had developed 10 years worth of muscle memory that the left hand was for the d-pad and the right hand was for the buttons. That shit became ingrained. Teleroboxer gets released and throws all of that muscle memory and video game experience out the window.

>>4067256
Right, in video game context it was new, but in terms of muscle memory, I mean, you always had it: left is left and right is right. Can't get any more universal than that.
Did you never play any mechanical boxing game?

>but in terms of muscle memory, I mean, you always had it: left is left and right is right. Can't get any more universal than that.
Hitting buttons with your fingers and the d-pads with both thumbs is a far cry away from actually throwing a punch. It's also a far cry away from using your thumbs to throw punches in Rock-em Sock-em Robots.

>> No.4067583

>>4067581
Nobody talked about "actually throwing a punch", anon.
But okay, if you think left and right aren't something natural for most humans, then I guess we can agree to disagree.

>> No.4067593

Because like it or not, normies very much have an "out with the old in with the new" outlook in video games.
