Sega was thinking, how can we put out some garbage and make people think it is something great (32x, Sega CD). So they basically tricked everyone with those add-ons for a shameless cash-in. We all knew it sucked and started to look to the Playstation and 64 instead of trusting SEGA again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. The real shame is the Saturn and the Dreamcast were actually really cool systems, but SEGA had already tarnished their own name.

What were SONY thinking?

>> No.4047519

how hard can it be to just let the games sell the console? just take your best game, make it look like the biggest thing since sliced bread and say "only on our console" at the end
I bet it would've worked better than creepy faces and boring technobabble about processors

All mid-late 90s video game ads were any combination of horrid/disgusting/creepy.

Sony's were really a case of hiring Chris Cunningham to direct and letting him do whatever the fuck as long as it was like the Windowlicker music video.

>>4047539
that was a good move, they hired David Lynch to do PS2 stuff too

You're not wrong, but it makes me wonder if you live in the same decade as the rest of the world. How many modern smartphone or car commercials have you seen that mainly advertises how much horsepower and gigawatts it has? No, now we live in the age where we sell a lifestyle image to a targeted audience, let everybody know how popular you will be when you throw a rooftop party with a Switch playing.
