Is there any MSX love out there?
What are some good games to play that I might have missed? Also I would love to see some of your hardware setups

Just got an MSX2 in Japan in March, picked up the games pictured with it, waiting on Salamander, Parodius and Nemesis / Gradius in the mail.

nice, expensive? Do you have a European MSX or JP?

>> No.4044880

I have only played MR.Ghost I think. Pretty cool.

sweet! I recommend picking up a MIDI PAC 2 and Midi sound module. It does wonders to the audio.

Hi no tori (I think it was released in Europe as Firebird).

These might be too obvious but here I go anyway, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2.

I played Metal Gear. Not a fan!
Contra is pretty cool. My favorite game is probably the Castlevania game. Also I love shoot'em ups.

Saw a msx in great condition in hard off. I would buy it if I was more interested in msx games

JP, I live in the U.S. so I don't have to worry about a step down converter or anything.

The MSX has a lot of great / exclusive games that never were ported to other systems, stuff by Konami like Usas or Space Manbow are worth getting into the MSX for. There's also rare and unique exclusive titles by smaller, fly-by-night studios that are worth checking out like Famicle Parodic, Mon Mon Monster and Yuurei-kun / Mr. Ghost.

I'd recommend apart from the ones made by Konami, some european games made by opera soft, maybe they are not so good as the jap ones but they are worth a try, most of them are plain shitty spectrum ports but i'd save: Temptations, Last Misson, Colt 38 and goody.

Also, if you are going to use real hardware get yourself a megaflashrom scc+, expensive but totatlly worth it.

Pic related: My vg8235, not in pic, my other MSX (sony hitbit hb-75p)

indeed! I have it, with the ram expansion. works fine with the Midi Pac 2 as well. They are releasing a new "msx everdrive" with more available space. I think it's called Raptor 2 or something to that effect. I might jump on it for convenience, but the scc+ is still great.
