Why was it so bad? Were they drunk?

Nah is just shovelware.
>Here $50000

The good ol' "time restraints" excuse.

It was shovelware based on a property that was bound to sell on name recogition alone.

Just think of shitty games by LJN and how they sold because they got movie licenses. Now just replace JLN with Titus and travel into the 5th gen and you get superman 64.

Is the game even called Superman?
It doesn't even have a title on the cover.

Yeah it does. Top left corner.

Oh shit we rented this as kids. They must've skipped over QA and bug testing like completely

Even if the game had the time iron out the issues it'd probably still be a boring empty fog-ridden disappointment. There's some footage of a much better looking PS1 version that was being worked on by another developer but I think it was cancelled.

They blame time constraints, but Titus has never been known for great video games. Not even Amiga players are huge fans, and they like everything.

Prehistorik, Crazy Cars, and Moktar/Titus the Fox were actually pretty "big" hits for Titus. But I agree, their game were quite mediocre overall.

Superman 64 is known for its executive meddling, they were forced to rework the game and add the ring madness in a very short time. The prototype version is actually better than the released game, which is quite baffling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JHCn3THgGU

The better question is why other games are good. Bad is the default, it takes lots of work to make something good.

Why would they want to force the rings so much?

easier to program a game based on rings than making AI for enemies or anything along those lines
