Post certain levels or parts in games that you remember being unsettling, creepy or weird that may or may have not been intentional.

Man, good times.

Also have to agree with OP as how the 'inside the chicken' level was really weird and unexpected, considering all the other levels were references to standard movie genres.

If you fail to defend the barn from the aliens, Romani gets abducted. She's returned the next day, wandering around the ranch confused. Later you can find her sitting on a crate, grimacing and holding her head in discomfort. Thinking about what the aliens did to her to cause that state really bugged me as a kid.

(i'm probably considered young by this board's standards) this is my one memory of earthworm jim and it was so horrifying it burned its way into my mind and i still can't bring myself to play any of the games

>> No.4027021

In Ardy Lightfoot on the SNES, one of the villains steals a gem from you at the end of a stage, then is promptly eaten by a giant worm that pops up out of a lake. Ardy tries to go after her, and is also eaten.

The next stage takes place inside of the worm's digestive system, and a few minutes in, you find her skeletal remains sitting under one of the acid drips in the stage. In the beta release of the game, her corpse was still in the process of decomposing. Really out of place for such a lighthearted game.

The acid drip was removed from the US version, and she was just knocked unconscious instead.

Villi People was a little unsettling, but pretty comfy.

Playing the genesis version of the first game, I had an idea of what to expect. The sub race, the giant eyeballs, For Pete's Sake... ...but 'Intestinal Distress' caught me with my pants down. Especially the music...
