Diddy Kong Racing but with Crash and fewer vehicles.

They literally copied a DKR course and tweaked it over and over until it felt just like DKR, then they started making their own courses based on that groundwork.They mention this in every making-of interview.

It's fun. It's a good game to have for the PSX since it doesn't have as many great multiplayer racing games as the N64.

Was I the only one that took a while to get used to the handling? It actually handles wonderfully, it's just there were times where I would get a boost or drift and my character isn't exactly facing the direction I want to go in, but I'm still going in the right direction. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but once you do it gets extremely addictive mastering your turns in time trials. Have fun OP

i will say it because im trying to be objective and im not interested in starting a consolewar here: usually when theres a MK thread people start posting that CTR is better than MK and the thread turns to shit. Then people start CTR threads and they counter posting how the game is dead as fuck and how much better DKR is for example, and that thread turns to shit too.

tl;dr the whole argument MK/CTR is just another sony/nintendo fight. Sega, PC or NEC fans dont get involved in such useless fights.

And for my opinion, yes, i think CTR is the best retro karting game. But probably the one i have played the most is SMK. That game is awesome too.

Nah. I'm not a fan of how it handles drift-boosting and I don't find the items very compelling.
It's a very good kart racer (one of the best of the era for sure) but it's not my favorite. You can like kart racers without thinking CTR is "perfect."
