Damn right Anon. Recently played through the whole game with just Toad. I generally play platformers better the faster I can go, so he's an obvious choice for me. I'm worst with Luigi.

Toad is the best. The princess slows down when picking things up, and Luigi slows down when jumping. Mario is good because he isn't slow. Toad is better because he is even less slow.

But yeah the princess is good too. If I had to stick with only one though, it would probably be Toad.

I've never understood Luigi. He feels so clumsy. I guess some people like him though.

He can jump way higher than anyone else which would be better if there were more vertical stages like in the original concept. He's also not as "please kill me" slow as Princess Toadstool picking things up. His clumsy jumping is something that can be adjusted for while the other three characters weaknesses are all hard limits.

The obvious choice is peach, she is undeniable the objective best character.
However I love SMB2 and replay it often, making peach boring, like a kind of 'easy mode'. The next obvious choice would be luigi due to his meme prestige, but I like toad due to his underdog status, you know?

To clarify:

As we have all noticed, everyone has a speed of picking things up, from Peach's 'please kill me' speed to Toad's 'back atcha, motherfucker' speed.
Similarly, everyone's speed is affected when carrying something as well: Peach is the slowest when carrying something, and Toad is the fastest.
HOWEVER: everyone has the same speed when they are empty handed. So while Toad may SEEM faster in general, he's really not...he's just not effected by item weight like the others.
