Help me out here, /vr/. I wanna translate this but I haven't the foggiest idea of how I could rip the script out of the game's Playstation ISO or anything.

Anyone more familiar with it, gimme a hand please.

PS1 ISO: http://www.mediafire.com/file/6q99arp9e79om0u/%5BPSX%5D+Quiz+Nanairo+Dreams+-+Nijiiro+Machi+no+Kiseki+%5BSLPS-00875%5D.rar

I would like to do mutliple versions of it.

One would have the original questions directly translated
Another would have the questions replaced completely, anime and manga stuff would still be there but questions about japanese celebrities and stuff no one outside of japan could possibly know would definitely have to be replaced.

The main thing I'm looking to translate are all of the game's dialogue since this is a hybrid quiz game and dating sim.

Well I'd be all for that, as the console version is just a tad censored when it comes to Charlotte and the fairy, HOWEVER, the console version has a few huge things over the arcade version

>Extra scenarios for all of the characters
>Two new routes
>VOICE ACTING
>and a chance to continue by answer one of the girl's question once you've run out of credits

There's also just more options in general for the home console version. It'd be a shame to lose all of that, and if the ISO can be hacked then we could easily just add Charlotte's nipples back in no problem.

it's up for debate, I would think that if you are into wrestling then you should know about japanese promotions though. My bro is big into wrestling and he knows at least the names and famous figures of japanese promotions.

The real question, I think, is how obscure is this question to a japanese wrestling fan vs. to a western wrestling fan? I would go on /asp/ or someplace that talks wrestling, and ask how obscure a question that is from a western fan perspective vs. a japanese fan perspective. If the difference is too great, then replace it with another question of similar theme and also similar difficulty to the original japanese-centric question.

I've done some dialogue editing in other PSX games. What you need to learn is Assembly, specifically MiPS r3000.

The language itself is quite easy to learn if you have even a smal knowledge of programming, the problem is that you need to reverse engineer the code of the game to find out which parts deal with the text display. That's just bruteforce grunt-work and usually best accomplished by multiple people.

I can go into more detail about how to investigate and comment code but it's really quite an ordeal, not incredibly hard but takes a lot of time. Then once you've accurately identified all the appropriate code locations you deal with the actual inputting of data, which again is quite a log, especially if the game has as much text as you say.

There are other steps that need to be done, like adjusting character space\font-types but that's the short answer. Goodluck if you choose to pursue this, it seems like a pretty niche game, just finding 2 other people who care about the game as much as you should be enough, more-so than somebody who's amazing at assembly.

I've being messing aroung with Retroarch's AI Sevice function recently. I have very small knowledge of nihongo (japanese language) but I was able to finish all PS1 Quiz Nanairo Dreams routes using the AI Service translations from the Ztranslate server. It's not perfect, but made me enjoy the story of the game and having a satisfactory experience! In order to be able to do that I had to cheat!I skipped all quizes using the rewind feature (every time a miss a question the game gives me the right answer, then I rewind the game a few frames and select the right one) and also save states.
So, I've been thinking about translating all game's story dialogue and replacing the questions for questions of the special version of Quiz & Dragons from PS2's Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2. What do you guys think? Makes sense since it is a Capcom game right? That way this will be more enjoyable for us capcom and video game fans!
