like anon said in last thread
>/vr/ does need to be updated. We're 3 years from 2020 and more people here keep bringing up OP's point. This idea will not go away and it will only get more people backing it. Should we wait 3 years, maybe, but by summer time this idea will be the popular opinion. Not, too mention the shitstorm of summer fags who will also jump on that bandwagon.

You can keep deleting this, but this discussion concerns here.

Also, 2000 era gaming thread. (This is what you people suggested in the meantime)

it´s sad being polite and trying to change stuff is banned here. To this day, most /v2k/ people are not being rude asshats shitposting like crazy, like most /v2k/ haters usually do.

I got a warning for the last thread. I don´t really see how a request about how retro works is not allowed on /vr/. I think the censorship comes from mods being against the initiative, not because it breaks the rules.

>> No.3871791

considering the 404's and all, maybe you should make a thread on /qa/ or whatever.
that way any good or bad points can have a chance of being seen and discussed properlike

I've been trying to catch up on the Spyro series. I know the PS1 games are the best, but I want to know where it went.

I'm almost done with the GBA games. Just started Attack of the Rhynocs

I almost liked pic related. It's a platformer with melee combat. Spyro has a bunch of moves that are fun to control, but the level design is garbage. If it was a metroidvania type of game it might have been good.

No it doesn't. If you want a new board, go ask for one through the appropriate channels. Good luck with that. But it has nothing to do with /vr/. Whether you get your board or not, it's not going to effect /vr/ in any way. No changes to the rules of /vr/ are on the table here, and by the way this thread is still in violation of them.

>Also, 2000 era gaming thread.
Against the rules, sorry. You can make a thread about 2000s gaming on /v/ or /vg/. I bet the mods wouldn't even mind if you cross linked that thread from here, in order to direct discussion to the appropriate place.

>>3871779
>>3871781
It's not censorship or faggotry. There have to be rules, or there would be no point in having any boards other than /b/.

>>3871789
>I don´t really see how a request about how retro works is not allowed on /vr/.
Take a look at both the global rules and the board rules. A thread about "2000s gaming" is not allowed on /vr/, requests are not allowed outside of /r/ and /wsr/, and complaints about 4chan are not allowed outside of /qa/.

>>3871791
This is the proper course of action, and also serves to highlight the fact that this initiative really has nothing to do with /vr/ itself. It's just a request for a new board.

>>3871803
>possibly including the generation into /vr/
That would be against the stated purpose of /vr/ at the time of its creation, which was re-examined and affirmed at the time of the last tweak to the rules. Personally I would be vehemently against that proposal.

/v2k/ isn't sustainable. In 10 years, are we going to have to make /v2010s/? What happens if 6th gen and 7th gen people want to split?

Also, what >>3871807 said. This isn't a meta /vr/ thread because it doesn't actually involve /vr/.

>> No.3871821

>>3871810
This isn't a thread about /vr/, this is a thread about non-/vr/ related video games. If you want to see it as a meta-thread rather than a /qa/ thread, it should be posted on /v/ and the discussion should take place there.
After all, the proposal here is to fork /v/ for a fourth time, not to fork /vr/.

>>3871815
I don't see what you mean. There's no "next gen" for /vr/, the definition of /vr/ is accepted and not changing over time. Maybe the name "/vr/" as opposed to a reference to "20th century" or whatever was a mistake, since it apparently leads to some confusion for newbies unfamiliar with the rules, but luckily there is a very clear sticky on the board to make sure everyone knows better.

thanks

If mods expliciry bans a thread about 2000 gaming (wich of course can lead to people discussing 6th/v2k problems) then you are giving reasons about why we should create /v2k/

>> No.3871827

>>3871819
No, on /v2k/ we just won't be faggots.

As /v/ moves on, /v2k/ will expand.
This allows /vr/ to be as stagnant as it wants.

That's the problem /vr/ has right now. The difference is /vr/ wasn't initially made to expand.

This discussion wouldn't be deleted if it were posted on /v/ or /vg/, or even /qa/ though. I don't know whether there is enough interest to create a /v2k/ board or not, but I know the discussion about creating an unrelated board (that isn't even a fork of this one) doesn't belong here.

>>3871827
Fine. What does that have to do with /vr/?

>>3871834
>That's the problem /vr/ has right now.
What's the problem? /vr/ is and should be a smaller, quieter board. There's very little "fresh" content here because all the systems discussed here were defunct long before this board was created. Everyone knew what they were in for, and no one sees it as a problem.

This whole thing is like if I went on /vp/ and made a post about how digimon should either be allowed on /vp/, or get its own board.

If that were the case, why aren't PS2 and gamecube allowed here right now?
Dreamcast was always a sticking point that wasn't fully resolved when the board was created, and the 8th gen coming out was just an event that triggered the discussion among the staff, with input from the users (I remember sending moot emails about it years ago, even), that finally resolved the issue.

But everyone agreed from the beginning that gamecube, melee and its ilk, etc. were never going to be allowed here. Luckily there are still two other boards where you can post about that stuff.

>> No.3871859

>>3871847
I see your points, but you can´t deny most of the /v2k/ reivindications comes from /vr/ not allowing 6th gen.
Hell, even the idea of creating /v2k/ if because they are polite enought, they should be pushing 6th gen on /vr/ too, wich they are not doing.
Still, mods keep fueling it by deleting this threads.

Someone will always post about FIFA 2005 for the PSX because it's on a retro console. Someone will always get angry about it.
Someone will always post about using a PS2 to emulate PSX games. Someone will always get angry about it.
Someone will always post about Deus Ex, because Deus Ex has repeatedly slid by. Someone will always get angry about it.
Someone will incidentally talk about modern tech or hardware in the generals. Someone will always get angry about it.

If the cutoff is increased, someone will start posting about Halo and Smash Bros. Melee in the most obnoxious manners possible, just to "prove a point".
If the cutoff isn't increased, someone will keep posting about how the cutoff needs to be increased.

This board, with its already-broad niche, has a tiny userbase. A split board with a smaller niche would have a non-existent userbase.
Someone will always try to circumvent the rules in subtle or blatant ways, and someone will always try to be the hall monitor.
Posting on /qa/ does nothing because /qa/ is /jp/ lite right now.

The entire thing is dumb. Have an anime girl.

Why not allow GBA, but nothing else? It's had 3 successors, the first coming out almost 13 years ago, and it's pretty similar to the SNES.
