Does The Sims still hold up or is it inferior in every way to the sequels?

i played this alot until i found out expansion packs even existed. created mansions, mazes, deathtraps, and other stuff. abused rosebud;!;!;!: frequently. enjoyed building music.

holy shit i made floating cruise boats with entire casinos on them.

finally got the old big mansion. felt it was complete.
