well, the ps1/2/3 are outputting component just fine, and the cables are just adapters for the av-out attached to three ordinary rca-cables.

only thing with PS1 using the component cables is you have to keep in mind that on the PS1, the cables will send out an RGB signal instead of a Y/Pb/Pr signal, which may limit compatibility with some sets. Playing on PS2 however will give you no problems, provided you are using the Y/Pb/Pr color space in the system settings.

You simply need to either use the composite out on the console (100x revisions only) or a GunCon inline breakout adaptor (pic related) to get your sync.

With the greatest respect, you have no idea what you're talking about.

The component cable carries the r, g and b signals as has been pointed out. The composite out carries the sync signal. You end up with RGBs which can be, via RCA to BNC adaptors, be plugged directly into a pro monitor with no chinkshit SCART fuckery required.

component just means multiple parts of a video signal through different cables. The PS1 can't do Y/Pb/Pr, but it can do RGB through component no problem.

99% of 3rd party component cables are chinkshit.

Keep an eye out for genuine Sony PS3 ones - with the metal connector barrels. They do come up cheap sometimes but you need to be quick off the mark.

Just a heads up in case you don't know, as long as you have one legit PS1 game you can just burn and swap any game you want. Not sure about imports but for your console's region all you need to do is tape the lid sensor down, go into the browser, hover over the legit disc, then swap it with a burnt one and off you go.
