SNES was phenomenal for platformers, but I think Gamecube is really the pinnacle.

For one, they got the controller right. N64 was shit-tier for controls and would have really benefitted from better sticks. For two, there were A LOT of good first AND third party games, even more than SNES. Gamecube was the last console that could directly compete with the other systems on the market.

I still probably would take the SNES over Gamecube (because of Super Metroid), but I think Gamecube was objectively the pinnacle of Nintendo's gaming systems.

I only ever played Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time on emulators ages ago and while it was functional, there were some graphical glitches and some of the other games I wanted to play (mischief makers, evangelion 64, wonder project and some others jap games) couldn't be emulated, I hear N64 is still bad so yeah, I kind of hate the N64, even though I only played 2 games and to be honest they were good games, but didn't finish either.

SNES on the other hand I can emulate flawlessly.

I unironically like the N64 more than the SNES. That's not saying much considering the N64 is my favorite console of every generation.

Yea, it had some serious flaws and a lot of what I love so much about it is purely nostalgic, but nothing will ever match that first jump from 2d Nintendo to 3d Nintendo. That first jump out of that warp pipe in Mario 64 made me feel like I had teleported to a whole other world full of wonders. Turok had some of the most satisfying weapons I had ever (and will ever) seen in any FPS. And Pilotwings 64, jesus christ, I don't think any game will ever pull me in like PW64 did. I spent endless hours just flying around as Birdman exploring every nook and cranny of each map over and over.

There's just something special about the N64 that's hard to really explain. The gaming memories I had with it will always be my most cherished.

This isn't a popular opinion here or anywhere, but PS2 blew. That was the time I "dropped out" from playing games and the shitty DrugdealerStation 2 was the reason. I hated that fucking thing. You know I'm not sure some of you even know what nostalgia is. Having knowledge about games and being able to go through them again without having to learn new games from scratch isn't nostalgia, it's just called having a clue what to do without having to invest many hours. There's no learning curve and you don't need a lot of time. Nostalgia wears off within a few hours, if you're playing N64 every day then that's not nostalgia anymore. It's such a worthless term, almost never used properly here.

I've been on this board since a month or two after it opened and I think the Gamecube had a ton of really good games for it. I still prefer the SNES, and I'm not gonna be one of those people who whine about sixth gen not being allowed, because I think sixth gen games are much closer to modern games than they are to retro ones. But it's pretty ridiculous to say that all the games the other dude listed are shit.

OoT, Majora, Mario 64, Conker, Wave Race and Diddy Kong Racing for me reach a level of perfection I can't find on SNES. SNES obviously has a lot more quantity and its games honestly aged better, but it doesn't reach those same highs for me.

The dungeons and fights are okay but the quest itself isn't driven by anything, specifically because outside of the Kokiri Forest Link doesn't has an actual conversation outside of some conveniently placed NPC giving you orders for a greater good you might even be unrelated.
