Oh shit, this bullshit hurts my head.
I think I read about it somewhere where a fucking hipster was bashing on "metroidvania" saying hurrr it should be zeldavania, what does not make any sense.

Metroidvania is always a 2D platformer with a specific item/exploration system, why the fuck would you add a top down 2D game like Zelda to the mix, it has some elements of it, but metroidvania is literary a subclass of 2d platformers, far from Zelda.

Heck, just call it a zelda clone, still better definition.

Calling it "Zeldavania" would be misleading considering that Zelda is much more well-known for its top-down view than for being a sidescroller. "Metroidvania" describes exactly what to expect from the game being discussed.
