Probably a lot of us jumping on the retro bandwagon now. I've been on this hell hole website 9 years or so, but only ventured over to vr a month ago or so. Also how the fuck do you guys pick just one favorite game? It all depends on what I'm in the mood for.

First Game: Castle Adventure, played it on an old HP 150. Weird little computer, ran DOS but it wasn't IBM compatible. It was also a monochrome touchscreen. Forget about graphics, this was barely a step above Zork.

Favorite Console: SNES, just because I have the most nostalgia for it. Never actually owned one, just played them a ton at friends houses.

Your anecdotal evidence is objectively wrong. The 2600 was manufactured until 1992 (and sold for $50 specifically marketed for young kids), and many, many of them were still in use in the 90s. My half siblings are 15 years older than me, I found their Atari when I was a kid and that's all I had until I bought a used DMG Game Boy for Pokemon in like, 99-00. I'm 28, and have more nostalgia for the 2600 than anything else.

I played a 2600 clone at a girlfriends house when I was a kid, but only once. I always remembered it as this primitive but entertaining video game console that I never saw again, it wasn't until 10 years later that I thought that it must've been a 2600.

10 years later again, when I met the dad in their old house, we talked for a bit and I asked about that thing, they still had it, and it actually was a 2600. Same design and everything, just with a different brand name (it was some turkish clone, and I live in central europe).

My parents didn't wanted me playing games "all the time", so I had to buy my first console: a GameCube. Not Retro, I know. I would've liked a N64, which I did played with some friends and on some McDonald's.

Even though I buy stuff for myself, I feel I had to confess to /vr/ about my likes. I have a thing for old technology in general, it's like experiencing a piece of history that I never had a chance to experience myself.

Earliest I can remember is probably Crystal Quest, Tetris, or Shufflepuck Cafe on the Mac. There was also a karate game that I forgot the name of.

Favorite retro game, I guess Escape Velocity (1996 Mac shareware) or possibly Link's Awakening. Or Tie Fighter.

GBA since it's basically SNES++

I had computer games and no consoles growing up. Got into retro gaming last year with emulation.

oh god. I think about 12 years on 4chan now, but I only visit rarely anymore. Haven't been on /vr/ (or 4chan in general) in at least a few months. Not a regular contributor on this board.

Escape Velocity is amazing, but why not pick EV Override? It's almost exactly the same, but there's more to it. You can still use ResEdit to make or alter just about anything with ease.

I played all three games shortly after they came out, but I always liked the first the most. Also original EV has a ton more plugins than the others.

Used to make a few of my own plugins with ResEdit and some other tools, but I probably don't have the patience anymore.

I'm 39 and I remember the 2600 vividly we got one when I was young and my older brother and I played ricochet tanks on combat everyday for about a year. I've been on the Chan for about 9 years and can't figure out why. It's too hard to pick one favorite game, but my top 3 revolve around fond co-op memories. My friends and I still play all of them.

Slordax: The Unknown Enemy. It was the only game my dad would ever play besides Q-basic Gorillas and we had a copy on all the computers in the house. We'd spend entire weekends trying to get past the 5th planet. Good times.

I don't know what the first game I played was, the first games I owned were all for the Commodore +4 and Fire Ant was the stand out. Soon after i got a game boy at release and it probably remains my favourite console along with the DS. I've been here since they cornered the Dorner.
