Final Fight was one ubiquitous fucking machine back in the day

Final Fight sort marked that watershed moment for.

There used to be a time when you could pop 10p into an arcade and, if you were good enough, you could beat the whole game.

Final Fight, along with arcade games like Ninja Turtles and The Simpsons, were designed to be fucking coin-guzzling bastards. Sadistically unfair at times, just to keep you pumping cash into the fucking thing.

Those molotov cocktail cunts can get fucked.

Still love the game though.

Final Fight (and other Capcom games) rewards you with a secret ending if you beat it with one credit though, not so Konami games.

Thing is, Final Fight is maybe one part skill and about two parts memorization.

Okay, maybe one of each. But the point is, you do need to spend a good amount over time, but it's perfectly attainable to credit it.

This. There's plenty of 1CC superplays of Final Fight on Youtube, even ones made on an actual arcade board (as opposed to MAME). Hell, there was even an officially licensed superplay of Final Fight released on VHS back in the day (which was included as a bonus feature in some Street Fighter DVD set).

If anything, Konami games were much more notorious coin-gushers, especially the initial U.S. versions of stuff like Crime Fighters and Dark Adventure, which copied Gauntlet's "health as time limit" mechanic.

Was playing the snes version earlier and I believe it is harder than the arcade version which I have played many times. Its like the hit detection gets really bad in the enemy's favor half way through the game or something.

Lots of Konami arcade games don't seem to even let you continue, unless that's just a DIP setting I need to modify in MAME and never have.

I think most Konami beat 'em ups allow continues, shit like Turtles in time clearly was designed around creditfeeding
Their 80s games like Gradius don't allow continues but they are overall wery well designed games that you can clear with a few practice

It is a very hard game. I prefer playing it because I love the SNES version's take on the soundtrack and it reminds me of the days when my older brother and I would play our Super Nintendo together. Yes, I realize Final Fight SNES is single-player, but that's what it reminds me of.
