I missed the opportunity of growing up with this system, so now that I have glorious emulation at my disposal, give me all your recs for the ps1. I know about the RE's, parasite eve, xenogears and all those know games. But what about the hidden gems out there?

for some "lesser known" shit, there's silent bomber, omega boost, harmful park, adventure of little ralph, ghost in the shell, sanvein, panzer bandit, soukyugurentai (it's better on Saturn, but Saturn emulation still kind of sucks), tales of destiny 2 (Eternia), jumping flash, intelligent qube

for somewhat popular shit you might end up forgetting about, there's ace combat 2, ace combat 3 JP just got translated (the western version was gimped to hell and back, it's practically another game), all the ridge racers, dino crisis 2, megaman x4, wipeout xl, wipeout 3 special edition, and I'm probably forgetting other stuff but oh well

if you're using pSX, don't -- timing is fucked to the point where loads of games hang (occasionally, they'll unhang after long periods of time), even ePSXe is better than that shit
a right shame, since there's pretty much no config and the software renderer it uses is fairly fast and good, but it's just fucked inside

Missing a lot in the Racing dept. especially Wipeout series. And I know that the PS1 has a pretty deep library of racing games because my dad had a bunch of them when he bought a ps1 back in the day. growing up with PS1 sucked. I hated it as a kid. then I grew up and around 21 I decided to look into the library and pick up a game for myself. That fateful day in 2012 started my obsession with discovering every game in its massive library and now Im a huge collector. Its kind of weird, but yeah, PS1 fascinates the hell out of me now and I love collecting for it.

Recommendations for emulation.... hmmmm. I dunno, Vanark looks really good. Try some of the rail shooters like R.Types, get MegaMan X4, and maybe and RPG you can stick your teeth into for a while.

I am kind of interested in Incredible Crisis and Adventures of Lomax. (those are certainly oddball hidden gems.)

>best emulator is ePSXe
Incorrect. In my experience with ePSXe, you need to fingerfuck the menu to change graphics settings to make it work for different games; the settings for one game probably won't work for another.

Just get Retroarch and use Mednafen PSX instead. It requires more up-front menu shenanigans, but you only need to do menu fuckery once for Retroarch and once it's done it'll run basically anything you have.

>> No.3821387

>>3821381
Another vote for Mednafen. I emulate over half a dozen consoles, and I use a retroarch emulator core for every one. Just one time to configure my gamepad. Then I just map it to the controls of each new system I add (which is retard-easy).
