>hurr durr Doom is all about "Rip and Tear"

I swear people only read like 2 pages of the Doom comic. In the beginning, Doom Marine is using a Berserker pack and he's going insane. It's not how he normally is. And should we take those two pages as somehow indicative of how "doom really should be" forever? I mean, there's a page where he goes on about Environmentalism. Why shouldn't that be considered just as indicative of what "Doom really should be" ?

The comic is great in that it's goofy fun, but it's importance has been blown up and it's distorting people's views of Doom itself. Also, Doom 1 initially started as a slower more hororr focused game. The pace of Knee Deep in the Dead is pretty slow, with parts where there's total darkness. It's meant to be a little spooky. It's only with Doom 2 where they added a billion enemies with wide open stages where it embraced the fast paced action elements over slower maze puzzle horor.
