Is the OSSC officially the best upscaler on the market now?

All I'm seeing is out of spec video out, so it's a gamble for whether or not any given TV will accept it.

This thing seems like a finicky mess and I'm never sure about what benefits it actually brings.

At least with the framemeister the benefits are clear. This thing has basic troubles with SNES and the line multiplication modes don't like any better than a 1080P upscale to me? just don't see the point.

Wow all those words with so little meaning. It does the same thing as a framemeister, which also has issues with certain setups.

Works on my SNES!

So am I reading the article right, to get 1080P, the OSSC is set to line 5x, then sent through a DVDO scaler. Which means I will have to hunt down a DVDO scaler that is out of production?

There's a VP50 Pro on eBay UK right now at a pretty decent price

Disregard. It sold

Not for long.

Did you buy it?

I was almost tempted but I don't even have a 1080p display so it would be just another thing for me to hoard for the future.

Almost bought it yesterday, but 45 GBP shipping wasn't reasonable enough.

No, I just know these DVDO units are in high demand.

Shipping to the USA would have probably made it too costly for me. Looks like it would have been at least $130USD. A shame, as I do like the OSSC, but it was my fault for never getting the DVDO scaler when it was readily available through amazon, but of course I had no clue a device like the OSSC would come along and I would need the scaler.

Not at all. It's a nice device for what it does and if that's what you need it's probably the best choice. But "best upscaler"? You're either stupid, stoned or both.

What is best upscaler then??

Something you can't afford.

It doesn't support composite or s-video (features the Framemeister has) and pumps out non-standard digital video that doesn't work on many displays, so I would say no.
