So apparently people get pissy over this? Why?

>> No.3790561

it crashes every 5-10 minutes and is intentionally obtuse and irritating in its design

>> No.3790573 [DELETED]

It makes collectors consoles and crt's completely worthless and dated, of course it's hated

>> No.3790578

>>3790573
doesn't explain why even the emulation community hates it

>> No.3790597

>>3790557
Because most people here only have experience with the completely broken Wii port that doesn't even save resolution settings.

>> No.3790603

>>3790557
it's just middleman shit for people who can't be bothered to actually manage their emulators and roms themselves. or they're using one of the console versions in which case what the hell is wrong with them

>> No.3790621

>>3790557
its author is an obnoxious shitposting autist who derails threads constantly

>> No.3790625

it costs money

>>3790621
Coincidentally, this is true for the haters as well

Did my comment really get deleted? wew

The topic is asking why the emu community hates retroarch-libretro, not why the retro community hates emulators. Retard.

>> No.3790717

I've yet to run into any insurmountable problems with retroarch. STILL don't know what people's beef with it is

>> No.3790889

>>3790603
It's nice if you have something specifically being used only as an emulation box.

>> No.3790914

>>3790557
overly obtuse thing that only plays video games once you're done setting it up

but since it's ported to everything that excuses it for some reason

>> No.3790958

>>3790557
I've only used it for NES on the PC but when I did use it I didn't enjoy it much. It's obnoxiously overdesigned and the UI feels like some horrible chink version of the PS3 dashboard. I can see the appeal of it but I already have most of my emulators sorted out so having some unified front-end for them, on a PC no less, is useless to me.

On another note, it's okay on Android, I guess. But even there I feel like there's better options. Why bother having something like this if it isn't going to be simple an streamlined, y'know?

I criticised the dev's once in emugen (and explained why) and my post got deleted. I gave up on emugen after that.
>>3790603
Horse shit. Most cores are better than their standalone counterpart - Standalones dont have Hard GPU sync, dynamic rate controle, frame delay, shaders or black frame insertion.

>> No.3791060

>>3790557
I like using it. I can see why other people would never want to, though.

>> No.3791173

>>3791016
This, despite the constant drama RetroArch is a genuinely useful program, which pisses off standalone emu devs to no end.

>> No.3791193

It's because Retroarch is too good and pure for this world.

>> No.3791194

User experiences is shit
Maintainers are gay

>> No.3791218

>>3790561
i second this irritating and not very intuitive design, shit sucks

>> No.3791226

>>3790557
>>3790578
I don't like the interface, has little customization to my standards, and the ps1 emulation doesn't work on my computer. Much prefer to just use hyperspin or something with all individual emulators that I can manage.

This.

SNES9X was great because it was not only open source, but it also has three dedicated developers. One for Windows, one for Linux, one for OSX. They all talked to each other and provided a simultaneous native release that was very polished.

Retroarch is just too many cooks doing one soup. They don't care about anything else than the fact that it works. UI? Who cares. UX? Get raped. Accuracy? Yeah it's great so let's not focus on anything else.
