I was taking a look at it today, i'd rate it a 7.5 / 10. One thing that bugs me about it is the rarity rating on the games. it rates them common, uncommon, to rare. I noticed it while reading up on Uninvited, he had it as Common... Uninvited.... common. Now I'm friggin' obsessed, with all the rarity ratings on these games

Nothing wrong with trying to make a dollar. I personally love a high-quality book about my hobbies & passions. The problem is his writing style is elementary to say the least, making the book far from quality. That combined with the clearly overpriced asking price just turns off too many people.

If youtube was his livlihood I'd imagine it'd be more lucrative to focus your efforts on the youtube channel. If you covered every single NES game in a series of, what, like 100 videos? 4 games per video? In alphabetical order it'd be a decent resource.

Now he's just shilling his book everywhere. Which is so fucking offputting. Nothing makes me want to avoid something more than when its shoved down my throat at every opportunity.

No I read the whole thing. I'm saying i find it a quality book. The writing is arguable, but i'm not reading a novel so it's not bad. I can follow all the descriptions and reflections. But the book is very vibrant, colorful, eye catching, and the paper quality is high. That's enough for me to have it in my collection.

What happened to Ian?
Anyways I remember watching the podcast and Ian always talking about "his store" like "yeah some guy came up to me in MY store and tried to return a broken game" or some shit, but I laughed my ass off when someone who lives close to that store actually discovered that Ian was literally half a step up from a low level employee! It was around that time that Ian left, maybe he got exposed and retreated like a cuck or something. I always thought he was the owner or atleast the manager but he was literally like a counter worker.
So basically Ian is working like a minimum wage job, Pat is living off of the 400$ or something youtube gives him a Month, shilling his book, and reselling videogames even though he hates resellers. I'd love for someone to find pats eBay or something and expose him because hes probably selling them at outrageous prices.

Here's a book I own which I recommend. Don't let the NES cart on the cover fool you, a vast majority (something like 80%) actually covers second gen console games. It describes what gameplay is like, cites other sources which discuss the games, and also has the author's own personal thoughts. And best yet his writing comes across like he has an actual college education.

NY times changes from around 1980 to 95-early 2000s depending on the article you read. Forbes changes from around 1980 also bu the cut was all the way to 2004. Now they say 1982 to 94.
