There are only a handful of games it won't play, probably less than 20. Of those, the only ones that I can think of as being worth playing are super Mario rpg, star fox, and yoshis island – if they're that important you can go out and buy them.

That said, since the sd2snes uses a programmable fpga, it's possible that sa1 and super fx support could be added in the future.

There are other flashcarts for other systems on the market, OP. In fact apart from SNES most flashcarts have 100% compatibility, the SNES is just an unfortunate exception. AliExpress, but you have to hunt around they're technically not allowed, but are very findable as 'Custom Game Cards'. You can also usually get them on Amazon from 3rd party sellers, or eBay. Don't get them on eBay though, they mark them up as if they're official. Though you could probably game the system and get refunded if it's not an 'official Krikkz' product and they list it as such.

Yeah, everdrive. If it was still a few years ago (before the ezIV shortage, causing resellers to cash in and sell a $25 flash cart at $80 plus shipping), it was between the supercard and the ezIV. But now, the ezIV feels old...you have to use proprietary software to install roms, they need to be patched individually to save, etc...I think the everdrive is a drag and drop deal, no?

In any case, the everdrive is almost definitely more user friendly. But I'm just speculating based on other everdrive products I used.

I've recently picked up a super 8 ufo pro and I love it. It's probably comparable to the chinese everdrive.

pros:
SD based
All special chip support*
Cheap
Can backup roms/save files from real carts

cons:
Special chip roms only work when the game you're trying to play in the top slot(You need a copy of MMX2 in the top slot to play it)
Terrible UI based off of 90's copiers
Slow loading speed

The special chip support is kind of useless I admit, but you can buy jap copies of more expensive games and play them in english this way. DSP1 games will all work with any game in the top slot for some reason though.

If I were to buy the actual carts I wouldn't even be in this thread talking about the everdrive, I already said this. It would not be an issue for me to bring up in this thread because it wouldn't be of concern to me. I already posted this.
If I were to emulate instead then I wouldn't even be considering anything related to actual hardware save for maybe the controllers. I want to be able to play on the actual hardware, though whether I'm using actual carts doesn't concern me. That's why I'm in this thread talking about flashcarts.
If I were to get a cheaper flash cart then that only makes the problem even worse because then it's even less compatible with games and thus I'd be wasting even more money trying to track down the actual carts to cover for it. Why even consider a Super Everdrive when the vast majority of games I want to play don't even work on it? I'd just be throwing away cash on shit I don't want.
None of the alternatives you've been saying actually solve real problem for the SD2SNES, you keep assuming that I only care about the cost itself and not its features.
I don't even know why I'm still replying to you, you simply ignore everything actually being said and the only reason you keep replying back is because you only want to be able to be the one that comes out on top. The only reason you argue is not to prove that you are right, but because you want to "feel" that you are right.

FRIENDLY REMINDER!

Everdrives/Flash carts do not emulate, like in a software emulator on a PC. Flash carts use dedicated hardware and are therefore completely capable of 100% accuracy with any given title. Typically 99% of all games supported by a flash cart are 100% accurate. There's always one odd game that does something negligible like it loads content faster or slower, but that seldom occurs.

The easiest way to understand a flash cart is to pretend it's a very advanced multicart. Also, ROM files are 100% identical to your original carts. The only thing flash carts have in common with emulators is near limitless game selection.

How most flash carts work is they use a FPGA (or CLPD) to replace mapping/co-processing hardware of target games and also work in conjunction with an OS to give the user some means of loading files. An FPGA is sort of like a CPU, ASIC or other type of fabricated, permanent, pure hardware, no software emulation chip, except the FPGA is end-user "programmable". It's not really programming in the sense of software emulation. On a FPGA, the logic gates are changed to directly mimic a piece of hardware. This is how flash carts can be 100%, whereas software emulators are always 99%, 99.9% or so on because they have to approximate the translation for speed.

Remember, software emulation is no true replacement for original hardware. Flash carts are pure hardware. They do not have lag, inaccurate sounds, glitches or anything typical of software emulation. Buy a flash cart, keep your original hardware (or quality clone if applicable) and love your games.
