Like most people I missed out completely on this console. In fact I never even knew it existed for a long time.

So is this console good? I find it odd how the pause button is on the console itself. It seems very counterproductive. The d-pad also seems a bit strange. Besides that it basically looks like the Sega version of an NES.

Tell me more about this console and its games as well as your thoughts on it /vr/. What are your favorite games on the Master System?

It was the SG-1000 actually. The SC-3000 was just a keyboard-equipped SG-1000.

Anyways, all the Sega consoles prior to the Mega Drive had the pause button on the console, as did most pre-NES consoles. The Sega Mark III, if I'm not mistaken, was basically treated an enhanced SG-1000 II capable of playing exclusive games, hence why it still had pause on the console.

I only ever knew one person with a nes, he said he had 2 friends with the same. So there were little pockets of nes owners but 99.9% of the UK was on the sms.

In comparison, the sms was more colourful and had better playability and sound.

But he's absolutely right. The NES might be held in high regard in North America where Nintendo were spending 15 million dollars on marketing and had Saturday morning cartoons and cereal, but it simply isn't a contender in the UK.

I don't know if he was making a judgement on quality - he probably was; but his conclusion is right. The NES had great games, but could you hell buy them here. At best you'd find a small handful of titles in the corner of CHIPS or Woolworths, single digits of the lowest common denominators. Mario 1 through 3, maybe Castlevania if you're lucky. I can only imagine being the kid with a NES in Master System town was a lot like being the kid with a Saturn in Playstation town. Or a 32X if you didn't live in a city.

you coulod trade second hand games for 5 pounds (around $7) and they were all pretty good. for example I picked up both Psycho Fox and Pro Wrestling for 10 pounds. Psycho Fox was amazing for the time in it's speed and enen though Pro Wrestling wasn't a major title or well known, it beat the crap out of any wrestling game on the nes.

Also having Double Dragon and Outrun at home was amazing.

1. you have to use a bunch of wind spells to get into the exact square to land;

2. you HAVE to wait until the wind becomes calm to search, since the button to bring up the menu is the same one you use to board the balloon, and non-calm winds blow you away from the spot. Note that for the same reason, you can't use a wind spell to calm the winds then and there, either.
