32X has taken over my Genesis

my Genesis works without it but when I try to use it the picture is either black and white or green and when I shut off the console the 32X literally makes it stay on. I have a soldering kit, I could probably fix it I just need to know what's causing the problem

The 32X improves the composite signal of the Genesis. It also has about 15 games worth owning, and it's not very expensive. I see no reason to not own one. OP's situation is the first I've ever heard of this problem.

before you start fucking around with anything just try cleaning it

get you some deox-it (or something similar) and clean the contacts of your Genesis and your 32x's cart slot. the solution comes with a brush that you can apply to surfaces or just pour on a rag. you can also try the paper towel on a spare credit card method and poor the solution on it. you'll probably want to avoid cotton swabs as they'll leave something behind. let sit for hours and then try again

It's not that it so much improves the signal as makes its own. The patch cable passes RGB from the Genesis to the 32X and it has its own encoder for composite.

inside a 32x there are 2 white ribbon cables. carefully remove them, they just pull out, clean up the contacts with alcohol and q tips. put it back together and it should be good.
this seems to work very oftem for me with 32x's that don't want to work.
