What are the best NES games not already included on the NES Classic?

It seems what you're really trying to ask is "what other games should have been on the NES mini but weren't?"

Well, first off there's the original Contra. And Double Dragon 3. Also, Megaman 1 or 3, they went downhill after that. Lagrange point should have been on the Japanese version of it, but wasn't to avoid implementing emulation of the better sound hardware, much like Castlevania 3.

Or are you asking what other games would be good to sideload onto an NES mini? Battletoads. Battletoads and Double Dragon. Super Mario 2J, aka the lost levels. Ski or Die. Chip and Dale. Samurai Pizza Kats. Megaman 4 minus infinity. Wizards and Warriors 3.

It's apparently a ROM hack that makes Mother 1 easier. I don't understand have issues with that game though. I someone who never mustered enough interest in finishing Final Fantasy I and Dragon Quest I, Mother had a pretty reasonable difficulty.

The creators claim that
>All enemy graphics, NPC sprites and tiles are be redrawn from scratch to be more faithful to the clay models. The goofy enemies are goofier and the creepy enemies are creepier. A shiny new font and title screen was added, too!
As you can probably see, they are very random.

It feels like another fan work attempting to fix what hasn't been broken, with shit changes literally no one asked for. Yet they went to great lengths with their fan diarrhea and had the gall to call it Mother 25th Anniversary. What a bunch of faggots.

Word of advice: just play Earthbound prototype.

This exactly, MOTHER is not hard. It's actually pretty easy by NES RPG standards, and the unmodified prototype that Nintendo officially released is perfect. It's an amazing game and not worth playing if you nerf it and mess up the art and 'fix' the localization.

I'm glad you've at least played the real one, I can't call you out for playing a ROM hack of something you've beaten. Most starmen.net type MOTHER fans are only playing that hack because the original is 'too hard' and it's just kind of gross. Also I don't think MOTHER is unbalanced at all.

>> No.3763779

>>3763771
Not really, you beat the game at like level 30 so it never seemed like a big deal. You're over-leveled by the time you get there, and you don't want to take any damage before the final boss, so regardless of how strong the enemies are you 4th-D Slip away and go kick Giegue's ass with love.

>> No.3763845

>>3763768
>Also I don't think MOTHER is unbalanced at al

I do think they could have raised your party member's level slightly upon joining you, it's basically a requirement that you go back to super safe magicant to grind until they catch up.

>> No.3763862

>>3763845
That's a fair criticism, but I happen to love grinding in Magicant.

>> No.3765929

So I guess they've finally found a loop hole in the limits of this thing and people are able to put over 600 games on this thing now without deleting thumbnails or limiting the number of saves, the only downside is that the games are divided into folders.

I put 226 games on mine. I don't get people trying to fit the entire NES library on these things when there's so much shovelware.

Out of curisosity, are you against all QOL patches or just MOTHER 25th?

Like, do you grimace at the automap patches for Zelda and Metroid? Or the CastleVania II patch that re-localizes the NPC dialogue and makes text go by faster?

>> No.3769472

>>3769459
Nope, I think patches like those are different, they add something to a game, they don't change the fundamentals of the game they're applied to.

MOTHER 25th Anniversary edition isn't really a QOL patch at all. It removes the art, changes the already excellent script, and in general dumbs-down an already easy game. MOTHER is the sum of its parts, changing any of those parts to make the game more 'palatable' to millennials is just sad and compromises the work, in my opinion.
