For preservation. Sure, some random bootleg probably isn't significant, but I guess the fact that such things exist is part of gaming history. I think a lot of preservationists take the viewpoint of "We can't say what is necessarily significant to the overall history of gaming, so why not backup what we can?"

Folk who grew up with it might want to check that shit they played as kids again for nostalgic purposes.
I'd kill for the ROMs of my old multicarts for Famiclone from 1992, a 30 in 1 and a 64 in 1. I remember most of the games, although there may be a few that I'm forgetting and I'd like to refresh the memory, and I'd even love to see the menues again (which was plain black background) and its sound effects (a sort of "plick" sound every time you selected a different game).

I'm fine with them dumping the ROM, i just wish they wouldn't end up in the fucking rom sets out there. As you have to then sort though 100% more roms that are flat out garbage or don't half work at all to find shit.

I wouldn't be surprised. They were talking about it over on Sonic Retro and someone said that if the guy who owned this ever dumped it the community who owns a lot of precious things would "never forgive him" and proceed to never release anything just to punish the rest of the world. Theres people who grew playing bootlegs because it was that or play with rocks. My second console was a NES bootleg console. I even beat the first SMB in that console till it blew up because the poor quality of the circuits.

I thought it was a prototype of that 3-player Sonic arcade game that actually came out with Red Sonic and Yellow Sonic being nothing more than placeholder for Mighty and Ray. Not sure why they felt the need to give Sonic palette-swapped siblings for a goddamn falling blocks game.

While I don't recall the details of this particular board, sometimes things might have to do with the source. For all we know, the guy he got the board from might have sold it to him with the condition that he not release it. Maybe the seller has another copy of it and doesn't want it to be devalued, or maybe he has ties to Sega and doesn't want that jeopardized.
