>Implying there's a more beautiful moment in all of retro gaming other than this.

This shit made me fucking cry as a kid. Nobuo is a fucking genius, he made sound chips express actual feelings of melancholy and despair, true masterwork.

FF broke me as well, though it was Aeris' death scene in VII.

I'd named the cast after my friends at the time, and it just hit really close to home

I'm sorry, Leona.

You can argue over second place all you want, but as for "most beautiful moment," it undeniably goes to the ending of Lufia 2.

You have to try the GBA version with the sound restoration patch. They didn't use the SNES track for the opera scene but...damn! Is the one they used great.

I fucking hate all the opera parts in the older FF. There's nothing more painful than having to sit through an unskippable sequence where voiceless characters "sing" even though you're just mashing the action button so that the dialog boxes pass really fast. Chrono Cross also does this in that awful, awful opera sequence with a bunch of fairies and that androgynous faggot.

Fiction makes people emotional because that's what it's supposed to do. There would be no such thing as video games if we couldn't find entertainment in fiction.

The endings of Terranigma and Link's Awakening hit me a lot harder than the opera scene in FFVI.

I also was much more affected emotionally by Crono's death in Chrono Trigger, as well as Frog's back story.

The opera scene is cool, but it's only setup for Celes's later big scene.
