What the fuck was the point of this? Is Konami trying to insult me? The Drac fight is so easy that it's not even necessary. Should just rename the game to Super Casualvania 4 with all the foods the game gives you.

>> No.3749306

Fuck off, Australia-kun. Super Castlevania IV is the best classicvania by far and the most challenging. Go play your 50hz abomination called "New Generation" and hang yourself with a Genesis controller.

>Rondo of Blood gives you less resources

It gives you plenty resources, it gives you hearts out the ass, meaning you can abuse the special item move very often if you need, but it's not very necessary since a lot of the sub weapons are very broken. The knife lets you throw 3 knifes at once which cover a bigger hitbox than the regular single knife in the previous games. You can throw as many crosses as you want, they absolutely eliminated the roman numeral mechanic which only limited to 3 consecutive shots. The bible is undoubtely the game-breaking item. It's a screen-filling spiraling shield that both protects you from attacks and kills everything it touches. Bible is basically god mode, and you can get it as early as stage 3, I think. Maybe earlier, can't remember.

I love Rondo, it is my favorite, but I don't mind admitting it's the easiest of the classic ones, and I also think that doesn't make it bad.

I agree bosses on Rondo are pretty fun and some of them very challenging and fun to fight (dullahan, minotaur, werewolf, the castlevana 1 boss gauntlet and shaft's ghost, death), some others were fun to fight but didn't put a real challenge (bone golem, carmilla, water snake), and the rest are just kinda there, some of them look cool but the fights themselves are dull (wyvern, dogether, dracula himself).

It's not harder than Castlevania 3 (maybe), but it's CERTAINLY harder than C1 and C4 without doubt (if you're not playing with Maria, a.k.a. the disguised Easy Mode), the entire game is quite challenging... Excluding Dracula, I'm still surprised to this how such game has a easy final boss, I actually prefer the Dracula battle in Castlevania: Dracula X for snes, even if the rest of the game is just a inferior version of Rondo, at least himself Dracula is actually challenging and a bit more interesting.

>It's not harder than Castlevania 3 (maybe), but it's CERTAINLY harder than C1 and C4 without doubt

Not really, read: >>3753410
Plus levels are for the most part pretty easy, only level that poses an actual challenge is stage 5b (and you can't even access it before beating the game once).
Still, the levels are well designed, for the most part, and are cohesive and clever, so playing the game is still fun, but in no way harder than CV1 or 3, very far from it, and IV has some levels that are much harder than anything on Rondo as well.
And yes of course I'm talking playing with Richter, not Maria (who by the way, despite being very game-breaking and OP, at least they had the decency to make her take more damage than Rich).

>even if the rest of the game is just a inferior version of Rondo
You're aware the entire game is different, it's not a version of Rondo.

I don't care your minimalist autism, you can talk like that about any game, Castlevania 1, 2, 3, everything has perfect strategies, my point is: I could beat Castlevania IV without any big problems but Rondo proved to be a complicated challenge that required much more planning through and more time to beat.

what?

>you can talk like that about any game, Castlevania 1, 2, 3, everything has perfect strategies
No, I can't say any of these games had a screen-filling insta-kill shield like the Bible on Rondo. Also, all of these games had numeral sub-weapon upgrades, limiting the simultaneous use of them, Rondo got rid of it, making sub-weapons more exploitable, especially the cross.

>my point is: I could beat Castlevania IV without any big problems but Rondo proved to be a complicated challenge that required much more planning through and more time to beat.

Both games are more on the easy side, but I felt IV had tougher levels in the later part of the game, while Rondo remained for the most part easy-going, plus levels are pretty short. Anyway, IV or Rondo, some people might differ on which one is easier, the thing is, Rondo is still easy and for sure easier than the NES games. That doesn't mean it's bad.

>Yes, I know, I said I played the fucking game
That's why I said you're aware, so don't say it's a "version".

Let's talk some Castlevania lore.

What do we know about Simon? He remains one of the most mysterious characters from video games in general to me. We know that he's a Belmont and as such has the obligation to wield the vampire killer and vanquish Dracula, we also know he fell ill from a curse by Dracula and had to go on an adventure to cure himself.
But is there anything else? What did Simon do before fighting Dracula? What's his actual job? Is he a knight, a warrior most likely? Do we even know who was Simon's son or daughter? (if I'm not mistaken, that would be Richter's parents).
