How do you keep track of your collection?

>> No.3747161

I open the rom folder.
Outside of that, I trust my mother not to leave them in a damp place in the basement, or toss them. She knows that some dumbass will want to buy that shit in 30 years. As I keep telling her that.

Autism powers... and excel of course

>> No.3747607

I use VGCollect. I mainly went with them because I liked the ap and I could use my phone to check stuff on the fly, but now it always crashes when I look at my list if I'm not on wifi.

>> No.3747610

I see it all right there on my shelves. What do I need to keep track of?

Throw the shit in boxes and wait for the day when autists are willing to pay 100x what I paid for it and it's worth cataloging.

Only got 50 games more or less
They are in a drawer

>> No.3748035

I have them in drawers and on shelves and shit and then I (usually) remember what I have with my brain because I see stuff when I'm flipping through to get a game to play.

Basically this. I don't have enough games to not immediately know if I own a game or not (I own maybe 100 between all consoles?)

>> No.3748183

>>3748171

I own way more than that but don't really have a problem since I'm actively involved with them on a regular basis

>> No.3748187

I use Google sheets.

Launchbox for emulators

Don't have enough games physically that I'd need a list to keep track of them all. The thrift stores here have almost always been dry (Super small town) and the hobby in general is only getting worse. Thankfully 90% of what I give a shit about can either be emulated to an acceptable degree or buy the console and mod it.

My games come from the internet but I keep track of what I've played and completed with Grouvee.com

The interface is simpler than the others, which makes it less flexible, but more usable for me.

I like that backloggery gives you complete control so you can add exactly what you mean to add and organize it however you want.

Its not an elegant experience but its a tradeoff I am willing to make.

There are other services like Grouvee or whatever but those all have autofill information and box art that doesn't even work half the time or the information is fucked up to another level (picture is for Ridge Racer 2 PSP, description and release date information is for the arcade game but the console is PS1?)

For me personally I'm still involved in the modern gaming scene but its trying my patience with this shit so I find myself looking to the past more and more.

Anyway, when you've got Steam, Uplay, Xbox Live, PS+, Gog, Origin, etc. shitting games in your face at lightning speed (and they are shit) its nice to have a "main hub" of sorts so you know if you have a game digitally before you buy it.

I bought a game it turns out a got for free on PS+ 2 years ago and I felt like a fuckin dumbass.

I've got 8 shelves full of games. They're organized by system and alphabetically.

Not very well. Buying duplicates has become a notable issue. I try to keep current high resolution in-focus pics of my shelves on my phone but I totally fail at it.

Sounds like you've got problems

The first time I noticed I had ended up with dupes I was kind of annoyed. So I gave a few away and put the rest on ebay. They sold for 10x what I paid. So I used the money to buy some more stuff I had avoided because it seemed overpriced. I picked up dupes if I found them cheap because I knew I could just sell them and buy something else. Eventually I had everything I wanted and plenty of cash left over from ebay sales so just stuck to mostly buying dupes and selling them on ebay.

I don't have collectism. I only own the games that were important to me as a kid, or that I always wanted to try or enjoy. I'm pretty sure I can recall every game in my collection off the top of my head.

Honestly this is bretty gud. I like that there's a differentiation between regular and Player's Choice/Greatest Hits copies, and that almost every retail configuration is documented as well. They also have box shots of almost every configuration as well, so the infographic you see is accurate.
Also I like that they let you pick if you have owned it in the past, currently own it, or played it without owning it.

Yeah, Backloggery is nice. I can't imagine trying to format playing Mega Man on a PSP emulator on an autofill website.

I don't, it's called living dangerously, I thought you'd hear of it by now.
