>> No.3743398

Gamepro Interview: March 1996 after Ultra 64 reveal with Shigeru Miyamoto.
> "With the Ultra 64 controller we were thinking of ways to appeal to new and old fans alike. The [D-pad] is familiar to older Nintendo fans and is useful for 2d games such as the recently announced Yoshi's Island 64. With the analog stick it allows a larger degree of control for 3d games like Mario 64 and Wave Racer 64. The controller was designed around the idea that 2d and 3d fans can use it with no problem."
>"Can you tell us what the cartridge slot in the back of the controller will be used for? Is it any adapter for New Gameboy games?"
>"The slot in the back of the controller. I'm not sure how much I can say [laughs]. I will tell you that gamers will not be disappointed in the uses of the cartridge slot."

If it werent for they slot on the controller of all things, poor n64 wouldnt even be able to save games!! I wonder what happened if you lost a controller but wanted to use the memory card for some reason...
Boy I love using the rumble Pak as well, I just hope I don't lose it, damn it'd be nice if it came built into the controler wouldn't it? I remember going AHH fuck ok let me save the game and take out the rumble Pak and putting in the memory card and then putting the rumble Pak back in and then losing my card because I would forget where I put it damn if only you didnt have to remove it and put it in every time you wanted to save games if you had a rumble Pak like if rumble was built in this wouldn't be a problem or atleast if the memory card was in a slot that you didn't have to remove it so often, kind of like another console that came before it hmmm
