Just buy a new silicon dome and put it in if you're so upset about how it feel's

it'd be cheaper than buying a new controller anyway

How do I do that...

If you're being completely serious all you need to do is just buy another silicon dome that fits the famicom controller. Disassemble the controller and take the old one out (it's probably cracked) and then put the new one in. It isn't rocket science

What should I be searching to buy one, Famicom silicone dome, or...?

>> No.3740839

Actually, I bet I could swap the rubber things from the Player 2 controller into Player 1's controller, because that one was definitely used a lot less.

The second one looks like it has about 30 years of jap dust in it, but I can't get the first one open because the last screw is really stuck in there and I'm scared of stripping it.

Just buy a nes controller and swap the silicone thing from the dpad

Stick a flathead in the edge between the two halves of the plastic shell near the screwhole, and twist slightly while you're taking the screw out. You might need to apply some elbow grease, and you might end up damaging the plastic. I wouldn't worry too much about it though since Famicom systems aren't exactly rare.

>> No.3740927

>>3740893
Yeah, it's stripped. I don't know how the hell I'm going to get this thing open though, if it had been one of the ones in the middle I might have been able to get it but it's all the way in the corner.

Holy fucking shit, it's unbelievable how pathetic this is!

Okay, I know /vr/ has a tradition of agonizing about the dwindling away of original parts, but can you just look at what's actually missing here? A measly fucking connector!

Seriously, they're fucking plugs and sockets! These are probably the most straightforward parts to recreate! So there's no reason why there shouldn't eventually be famicoms with detachable controllers out there.

>> No.3740985

I'm glad this thing only cost me 15 bucks because I had to basically rip the back of the controller off by force and warp the plastic to then cut the end of the peg the screw is in so I could shove a toothpick up the peg and knock the screw out. It probably won't look to bad once I glue it back together though. I might just swap the backplates as well since I'll never use the second controller.

>> No.3740991

Wait FUCK because they're hardwired the backplates aren't interchangeable

>> No.3741009

You can still connect controller to expansion port of original Famicom and AV mod it without changing external appearance too much. AV looks silly desu, no aesthetics at all.
Original Famicom a best.

>> No.3741012

>>3740970
You're not memeing right. The NES is a disgusting system that bastardized the Famicom. They're completely unique, anon.

>> No.3741028

Sigh, because I broke the corner of the backplate it won't go back on right. I should have just given up after the screw stripped, I guess I just have to trash it and buy another one. I like the controllers and the overall look of the original Famicom so I probably won't get an AV, but it would be nice to not have to keep a VCR around to connect it to my TV.

Maybe I'll try to find one of those Joycard controllers.

>> No.3741075

Everyone knows the pads are wired on the original FC. If you don't have the basic skills for repairing you should have thought twice.

also..
there are people ITT who suggest to AV mod your famicom when you don't even know about pads. If you really want the original design over the AV one, you could have gotten a chinese famicom, which are just the same as the original except with AV out already. Got one here and it's really cool.

There is room for improving yourself, you know.

OP here, it's unfortunate I had to learn that screw was stuck the hard way but it could be worse. Controller feels pretty much the same even after cleaning it so that's kind of disappointing, but at least you never touch the back of the Famicom controllers in the spot that's missing, unlike the NES one which is a complete rectangle it has a raised edge that you rest your fingers on so luckily that bad screw was in the perfect spot because if it was anywhere on the lower half your fingers would constantly be touching the broken part.

>> No.3741094

Also I might try to find some superglue and really patch it up tomorrow, but that's more effort than I'm willing to put in right now. I just wanted to make sure it would still feel fine without that piece in case I can't glue it back correctly.

>> No.3741096

There was no need to damage it you're just being a retard

>> No.3741114

>>3741096
The screw was stripped so either I deal with the controller feeling bad forever, buy a new one, or break off a minuscule piece of plastic to try and make it feel better. Who cares, the thing was untested and cost $15. I'm not some hardcore collector autist who gives a shit about a visual imperfection no one but me will ever see anyway.

>> No.3741152

>>3741114
There are a lot of ways you could have removed that screw without ripping the plastic apart.
