I have a friend that is in to designer fashion, he flipped some hangers he got with Tom Ford's name on them for about $100 or 200 a pop.

To be fair, they were pretty good hangers. Nice, big shoulders to support your jackets. Without the Tom Ford logo, I'm sure they would have cost tens of dollars.

Yes I manage to fuck up every encounter with the opposite gender but moral of the story is, garage sales and flea markets are where you find the deals. People running these want to get rid of their shit, not make money. Places like Goodwill and eBay fags want to make money.

Here's something to keep in mind - if you arrive early to the sale you will be able to get first picks on whatever is there, but you probably won't be able to haggle. If you risk waiting until the end of the day you may be able to haggle with people, because it's the end of a long day and they'd rather have one less box to pack up. Be wary of when people pack up, today going around for garage sales people were packing up at 1 to 2 PM.

Some ridiculous "authority" that grades games and offers protective cases to collectors.

Now, some might ask,
>"Who gave them the authority?"

The answer to that is: nobody. As far a everyone is concerned, they are the only governing body of that sort of thing, other than anyone else's naked eyes.

It's just a shame so many people are falling for it. I mean, it is a nice touch, to put a sealed game box in an acrylic display box, but really, it doesn't make it 100x more valuable than one out of a display box. And their grading shouldn't have an effect either. Two boxes, one graded one not, ought to be worth the same(barring any miniscule damages). Yet, as we can all plainly see, the VGA graded products command a much higher price, as if they are more "collectable" than others in the same or better condition.

The grades are only worth something to people that care. As far as I'm concerned, it's all bogus, and I stay away from it.

Feedback scores are meant to be separate from the actual item, and are more for depicting the user's reliability and overall salesmanship. I.e. responding to your questions, offering tracking information, offering combined shipping or even accepting returns. The actual item or price don't have anything to do with the feedback score.

The thing about ebay is that more often than not, you get to see what you're getting. If you get something other than shown, THEN you get to dump on that user for not being reliable, or trustworthy. Other than that, if you buy a game for 200 that others are selling for 100, it's on your end, not the sellers.

On the topic of ridiculousness surrounding EB and it's following.

>pic very related
>not a rare game if there are THIS FUCKING MANY RESULTS ON EBAY.

(Screenshot of Super Mario World search for comparison purposes. I did this on a whim and did NOT expect there to be less. It is the SNES game with the most units sold(20+ million), yet somehow...)

>> No.383982

>>383820
Actually, there are only 107 copies of EB listed on the ebay right now, but still, it is not rare in any respect.

Your results dont filter merchandise or YuGiOh cards. so you have way too many results, when it should be just about 107. Still.

You forget that over here, SEGA stuff was pretty much the king until the Playstation. It is, also, not really that highly sought after by the retro hipsters in this country, since most of them are more partial to LOL MARIO and LOL ZELDUH.

As such, Master System and Mega Drive prices are a lot fairer than you'd expect, still, especially for software. Except Phantasy Star, that's as much a victim of severe overpricing as any other RPG.

What the fuck? Rapid Fire is for semi-automatic guns which often times don't have a cap for the firing speed since the max speed is as fast as you can pull your trigger.

The jitter is to abuse auto-aim in console FPS. The faster you move your aim; the more auto aim kicks in. By having the control stick constantly giving inputs at high speeds it tricks the game into thinking you're making some quick snap shot, so auto-aim goes full power, and it's like having a mini aim bot.

Goodwill in my town sucks dick on video game stuff. I've only gotten lucky once. It's usually sports titles. I remember right after Michael Jackson died, I seen Moonwalker for Genesis in there. They wanted something like 10 bucks for it. The only good find I've found there was Street Fighter 2 w/manual, Super Mario Kart CIB, and 2 others that weren't sports. Saw a Mario Bros sleeping bag. Figured it'd be 4 because it was about a twin size when spread out. They wanted 8 for it, and it had some kind of dark stain on it.

Well, if you check the SOLD AUCTIONS instead of the exorbitant asking prices, you can get a better notion of what a game is actually selling for on eBay. Surprisingly, Twilight Princess GC sells for about $40 CIB. If you can get copies for less than $30 each, you might be able to turn a bit of a profit.

If the copies are sealed, you can ask $70 and they will still sell.

And if you REALLY want to lose some faith in humanity, if you get them VGA graded first, you can sell them for $275-300 each. No joke; check the sold auctions for the search string "sealed twilight princess gamecube."

There's a lot of neat ideas with how to progress, as well, but the hints are overly cryptic and you'd be lucky to get most of them yourself.

All of this is my opinion, of course.

On the plus side, I like the art, the music is completely kickass, and the base gameplay and platforming is still CastleVania fun.

Disregard that, I suck cocks, Its just regular old Ninja Gaiden.

On a semi-related note, does anyone know a good place to buy the game boxes for PS2/Xbox/etc.? Im reffering to simply blank cases. I have a ton of nice games I got from thrift stores, but the outside casing is always full of stickers and shit

Hmm, for Nintendo games Nintendo sells replacement cases direct here: http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?currency=USD&storeId=10001&tranId=0&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&ddkey=http:SetCurrencyPreference

Other companies, don't know... Googling shows old stuff from 2005 that's out of business. Best bet I guess is to ask a GameStop if you could just purchase empty cases. If you don't care about stuff like the card holder for PS2 games, blank normal DVD cases are always cheap.

I have an idea. What if there was a Youtube channel devoted to calling up these fucktards and breaking it to them that their 'rare' games aren't that rare or special. I seen this and it got me thinking.

If you do that, call these people up and claim you're some official calling them about scamming people.

>> No.407716

How about more like, tracking down these "expensive" games for cheap, then showing people that this shit isn't actually so rare.

Earlier somebody made a post saying that if they won one of those eBay auctions for sealed games, they'd open it on a live stream. Someone could do something like that.

I dunno. But I hate the current state of things. I remember seeing games like Shantae and Tron Bonne for acceptable prices once in my life. Not when they were just released, but considerably after their respective consoles have passed. It just seems that since pretending to be into games is a big thing now everybody thinks that anything sealed or from a popular series is worth more than it should be.

Dont forget shit like Pawn Stars and Storage Wars. I like those shows but ever since they came along every idiot with a copy of megaman or castlevania thinks its worth a gorillion dollars.

People need to learn that old=/=expensive

Yes, its out of production, but people seem to forget that there are 50 million SNES's in the world (according to sales numbers, reality is probably higher)
