I actually have a question. which order should i do the stages in?
Is there any advantage in doing them in a certain order?
Im basically brand new to megaman.

Google it

Yes, bosses are weak to certain weapons from other bosses

>> No.3735189

>>3735185
Generally speaking bosses have weapon weaknesses, so you want to kill a boss, take his weapon and proceed to the next boss weak to the weapon you just took. ALSO some Megaman games have interactive level elements (i.e. the Blocks in OP which can be thrown with Gutsman weapon) which utilize special weapons.

i presume you just started and are taken aback at first. but those first 6 levels are really not hard.

i know that because i've beaten them and i'm probably the worst player of video games here.

willy stage is hard though. and that rock monster guy is fucking tough but you can luck out. or be a speederunner shit and select that shit, if that works on some emulators. i played it on fceux and it didn't work.

completely taken aback.
ive love platformers like shovel knight and super mario world but this seems hard because of the fact that there's no downward pointing attack. you cant jump on things or shoot downwards even diagonally. it's just straight forward.

well it seems everyone really has their own order for beating this game. As far as i can tell its
>guts > cut > elec > ice > fire > bomb
or
>fire > bomb > guts > cut > elec > ice

>> No.3735237

Start with Guts Man first. His stage kind of sucks with those moving platforms, but you REALLY don't want to try using Bomb Man's weapon on him. Bomb Man's weapon is pretty much impossible to use. Guts Man is not too difficult to buster only.

when you kill a boss you get a weapon you can equip

the idea behind mega man games is that you become more powerful - permanently - every time you clear a stage

it's fun as hell once you get good; clearing out a whole screen with an unlocked weapon you can aim or charge is a great feeling

I'm generally not very good at video games but I found Mega Man 1 to be pretty moderate in terms of difficulty when I played it for the first time a couple years ago.

Pro tip: You only get to figure that out for yourself once. Don't spoil the experience. I'd trade my left nut to be able to play these games fresh again.

as a kid I tried playing mega man games and wasnt getting anywhere, had No Idea that it had a dynamic like this (since games that say you should play a certain way usually made you have to get certain items to proceed).

spoiled all of mega man for me since then and I had no idea why they kept making so many of them

Once you get your shit handed to you by Yellow Devil, you'll want to move on to other titles.

You should start with V and VI, they're the easiest, although arguably the worsts too.

When you play II, don't play on easy, it was added in the western release and it sucks. Several enemies lose their purpose for instance

5 and 6. V is a Game Boy game and VI doesn't exist. Mega Man actually has a separate sub-series with roman numerals so you gotta be clear.

Alright anon, let me help you out as somebody who played this game at a young age and came up with my own M.O. to make it easier

>Start with Cut Man, just run past those blue fuckers. Keep trying, it gets easier. Cut Man dies quick from your buster just be sure to keep dodging.
>Fight Elec Man next, he is weaker to your cutter.
>The game lets you replay stages, so be certain that you immediately after replay Elec Man's stage. Find these blocks and use the elec beam to destroy them, because the elec beam destroys guts blocks. This will give you the magnet beam which makes it faaaaar easier to platform through Guts Man and Ice Man's stages: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgN3JHs-WGg
>Fight Ice Man next
>Fight Fire Man and be sure to freeze his flame pillars, it makes your life so much easier
>Fight Bomb Man
>Finish off with Guts Man
>Since you're a new player, learn the pause glitch for the Yellow Devil's boss fight, it involves spamming the select button: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghoVW-szN4Y
>Use pause glitch again as needed against boss rush/Wily (it works on any enemy in the game)
>USE YOUR ICE BEAM TO FREEZE BIG JUMPER ENEMIES THEN KILL THEM WITH YOUR BUSTER. Trust me, using the ice beam to freeze an enemy before switching weapons to kill them is a godsend (this does not work on bosses however)

Good luck!

That's just a fanmade convention nobody outside hardcore Mega Manchildren used. All the NES Mega Man games (and VII on Super NES) used Roman numerals on their title screens, regardless of what was used on the packaging art.

Nope, it's always been "Mega Man V" in the west even on NES. Although it's "Rockman 5" in Japan and it doesn't help that it's "9" and "10" either.. Basically they dropped the roman numbers with 7.

I've got both Mega Man and Rockman carts here and I had the GB games as a kid, so I know.
