Yo /vr/, /v/ here. Been thinkin' about gettin' a Dreamcast but its library seems kinda lackluster - just a bunch of arcade ports and former exclusives.

Only games I'm really interested in are Shenmue, Fire Pro D, RE 2 & 3 and Daytona USA. Any hidden gems I don't know about? What are your personal favs?

Oh, and the Sonic Adventure games look alright. Bet I could burn lots of hours in the Chao Island.

Unless you already have a retro PC once you start playing any game on Dreamcast especially using VGA out you'll get hooked.

the system has a very low amount of exclusives that are worth it. almost as bad as the n64 imo.

saturn all the way

For most games which are available on Dreamcast + other platforms, the Dreamcast version is better.

There are a lot of PS1/N64 games which have far superior Dreamcast versions - higher resolution, higher framerates and no wobbly polygons.

Also most of the Dreamcast exclusives that ended up getting ported to other platforms are still better on the Dreamcast. The PC version of Sonic Adventure is a glitchy mess. All the re-releases Crazy Taxi (except the GC/PS2/X-box versions) are lacking the licensed music and licensed brands. I've also heard that the PS2 port of Grandia II has a lot of issues, although I don't have a copy so I can't confirm/deny this.

The Pro Skater series comes to mind. Any others?

Rayman 2 is another classic N64/PS1 game with a far superior Dreamcast port. This video does a good job showing off the relative merits of the N64, PS1, Dreamcast and PS2 versions.

If it had 2 analogs instead of 1 the system would have been better. I still love it though, I own 2 dreamcasts.

Dreamcast has like the least shitty library out of every console. Mostly because they have a small library though.

I'm sad it never got a ps2 release like rival schools did (for the PSX)

Some of those "former exclusives" turned into really shitty ports

Namely Grandia II and Ecco. Heads up.

Some like Skies of Arcadia and Sonic Adventure 2 are straight up better though
