My school never had Apple IIs, but they did have PS/2 Model 25s and 30s and Tandy 3000s which were old shit at that time.

thus it's entirely possible some schools still had Apple IIs well into the 90s

My junior high school certainly did. One time I brought in boxes of Apple II games from home - non-educational stuff - and kids started gathering around because they'd never seen these computers used for anything other than MECC games or boring spelling games. The lab supervisor didn't like it and said I couldn't play unless I'd brought enough copies for everyone

No. Apples were shit. And school lab sucked dick and all we did was typing class which I could already do for the most part.
I preferred being at home comfortable with a C64.

yeh they didn't let you play Softporn or Ultima in the school computer lab

I do miss the old "dial-in-BBS" system, those where the days.
Had a Commodore at home shitty Apples at school, they keep going on about how good and expensive they where. mentioned my Commodore had sound and color. Told that Apples where just better because they where expensive, that was what started my hatred of Apple.

No I do not miss it.

I remember using an ancient text editor for my after-school typing class - black and green only - and it had no "insert" function, so if you fucked up, the entire thing was ruined

Funny thing was I didn't really learn to type quickly until I started chatting on Battle.net many years later.

My mother was the school librarian so she was allowed to take an apple PC home. Good fun times during the video game crash era. Oregon Trail and Chivalry were my two favorite games.

Does Fidonet still exist?
