It's possibly my favorite. Taito was barely a blip on my radar before it, and now they're my favorite old-school company. A warning though, one or two games are honestly not the best emulated, such as the Puzzle Bobble and Cleopatra Fortune

The best ever.

It really sucks that the new ones completely abandoned the actual museum. That would look incredible on today's hardware.

If I ever got filthy rich, I'd open an arcade with a gleaming white room filled with candy cabinets with Namco games, and play this over the sound system.

I love how they had supplemental materials for each such as flyer and instruction scans, promotional art and even photos of the actual PCBs. They were neatly organized too, unlike the later Capcom Classics Collection (which would artwork and material from different versions of games in the artwork gallery).

Most digital only releases don't even bother to do that anymore.

I really wish they would release those on PC. The extra content is much more important to me than the 3D, and there's nothing else on 3DS I'm interested in. Plus, I don't really like playing on handhelds.

3DS are getting cheap as shit now and have a lot of really good stuff. You might think the 3D is nothing but these games are some of the best to use it, it's cool to see shit flying at you in Space Harrier, Outrun, Super Hang On and be able to completely judge the distance.

The PS360 collection is better, it has more games including Streets of Rage 1-3 and is only really missing Shadow Dancer.

>> No.3716961

Metal Slug Anthology on PSP is the best version IMO, you can run the games in their original resolution which looks crisp as fuck on the PSP screen and they play pretty good on the system. The only downside is a bit of loading between stages.

>>3716948
>The PS360 collection is better, it has more games including Streets of Rage 1-3 and is only really missing Shadow Dancer.
I'm sure it has Shadow Dancer. You're probably thinking of Revenge of Shinobi, since they didn't have a ROM image without Spider-Man in it.

>> No.3716968

That compilation sucks. Just get the individual games you want from the e shop, its cheaper and you can select far better games like Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes and Thunder Force III when it comes out.

JP version technically has more games. You can unlock Alpha 2 by beating Zero 2. it has the arcade version of Zero 2 Alpha, and you unlock the home version (Which is Alpha 2 Gold in the U.S version) by beating it.

Also it has ingame movelists

WTF did they remove this from the US version? Why? It only makes you consult GAMEFAQS. Did they think this made the game more faithful to the arcade?

Zero 2 and Alpha 2 are almost identical, aside from the fact that Alpha 2 is in English and has three extra characters (Evil Ryu, CE Zangief and CE Dhalsim).

Zero 2 Alpha has no Cammy and uses the original Q-sound music instead of the arranged tracks from the console versions.

Except CE Zangief and CE Dhalsim are weak compared to the regular versions of the characters. They don't even have Super Combo gauges.

Not that it matters since Alpha 2 Gold/Zero 2 Dash is in every regional version and it has the whole roster. Only aspies are triggered by the OPTION of picking an OP characters.

Pretty sure it's cheaper to buy the compilation than all the individual games. I double dipped because I never thought we'd get the physical version over here. And it doesn't suck, the compilation also has exclusives that aren't up for download like Power Drift, the Master System version of Fantasy Zone, and Maze Hunter. And I'm pretty sure Thunder Force is exclusive to the physical copy in Japan as well.

The entire PS1 Namco Museum series (aside from Japan-only Namco Museum Encore) are available on PSN. They are all playable on PS3, PSP, and Vita.

If you have a 360, Namco Museum Virtual Arcade is the single largest Namco Museum in terms of number of games. And on a similar note, Midway Arcade Origins for 360 and PS3 is (as far as I know) the largest collection for Midway/Williams/Atari games.
