Is the sixth generation of video games considered retro now?

Yea pretty much

>> No.3706583

Apparently not yet, sadly, which is a darn shame given that we can talk about wiis and psps and vitas in the context of emulation, but you want to talk about a 10 year old game like Bully and it's GTFO.

The consoles themselves? I'd say so.
Their libraries? Not so much. There are some games on those consoles that aren't even 10 years old (and I'm not just talking about shit like Fifa '14).

Autistic spergs will argue against them though because those consoles, understandably, have a lot of baggage that come with them. You got the Meleefags, the Halofags, the KHfags... But shitposting will exist with or without them.

Also would be a good chance to tell people to take care of their shit, like if someone has an OG Xbox where the infamous cap hasn't fried their console yet, they could take care of it before it becomes an issue.

>tfw /vr/'s rules will never be based on software release date where games older than 15+ years are considered retro

>> No.3706594

The 2000 cutoff point is arbitrary as fuck, gaming's most drastic changes happened in 2005/2006.

This board is full of arbitrary rules.

Tough luck kid, those are the rules we all agreed on.

So we'll have this thread every 2 days now?
It will get deleted anyway.

We need /v2k/.

The word "retro" doesn't have an official definition based on years, some sources say it's 15 years, some others say it's 50 years.

It'd be nice to have a board to discuss all post-1999, non-current generations. Otherwise we'll always have people bitching to include stuff on /vr/, include 6th gen here, and immediately we'll get people whining about 7th gen.

/v2k/ is the solution.

Anyway bitchin here won't solve anything, e-mail Hiro, either for 6th gen inclusion on /vr/, or /v2k/

no, fuck off

Yeah but fags from /v/ might come over here because of it and therefore mayhem and wishing OP never existed.

So on this website no.

>> No.3706660

Lately people are being a bit less faggy about this. Like if you bring up GBA related stuff you no longer get some sperg derailing the entire thread. Not wanting /v/ fags here is understandable but you don't need to turn things to total shit in another way in order to accomplish this.

>>3706660
I think GBA is okay just because a conversation on it wouldn't exactly flourish on /v/ so

>> No.3706662

>>3706661
Just don't try to make an actual thread for GBA games. Someone will come around and shit it up. If you bring it up in another thread and it's on topic you can probably have a good discussion.
