Name me a single Sega Genesis game that has more iconic and memorable music than Super Mario World.

Pro-tip: You can't.

I love the snes but even I think that this is more nostalgia than anything, you could easily say the same about Sonic in the Genesis, personally I do think that the snes is vastly superior than the Genesis in the music departament, and that SMW certainly has a good soundtrack but it's not particulary mindblowing imo, it was a very early title after all.

I'm really not a Sega fan, I'd likely play anything Nintendo before I'd touch a Sega system, but this shit right here has got one hell of a soundtrack.

>> No.3694398

The map themes (Yoshi's Island, overworld, vanilla dome, forest of illusion, valley of bowser), the ghost house themes, the fortress/castle themes.

Yes, the ghost house, the castle, the underwater, underground and both atheltic themes all have the same leitmotif, but you'd be labeles as musically ignorant if you said the Ghost house theme and the atheltic theme are the same track.

I actually didn't knew they were all the same, I was implying that the overworld theme is the only one that I would consider "iconic" or "memorable".

The ghost house theme is in my head a lot too. But I've played a shit ton of SMW and those are the only themes that have stuck with me, if the soundtrack really was memorable I guess I should remember more songs.

My favorite theme on SMW is the forest of illusion map tune.

>It's a highly subjective matter, which is why this thread is pure console war shitposting (most likely falseflag, too).

This.

SMW has good music (my favourite is the Castle theme, its nerve wrecking good), but the only thing that makes its music more iconic than say Sonic or Toejam & Earl or Streets of Rage 2, is nothing else but the fact that more people have bought SMW.
If Sonic 1 had sold 60 million copies, then it would be Green Hill Zone that is more popular.

Yeah it's always those younger mega autists who became fans later on who post this garbage. We can say without question they are mega autists with no friends or love interests just going by the kinds of people who post videos about these games on youtube and post on fan sites. Sonic has the worst reputation because the furshit, the recolors, and the horrible fanfics, but Mario attracts a similar crowd.

I grew up only having a Sega Genesis. The music of Sonic 2 is burned in my brain forever and ever. The music of Super Mario World is familiar and memorable too from repeated plays of it at the houses of my friends and family members. I have a great appreciation for both. I logged many hours on both using emulators over the years and I'm in the process of acquiring both consoles and flash carts so I can play those and other games I loved more on their original hardware.

The console war was fought and won with mixed results for all parties involved long ago. Arguing about which one is better is fucking dumb. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Better to play the great games that were made instead of whine about sound or graphical capabilities like a redneck Call Of Duty playing xbox shitter.
