How does Doom 4 tie into Doom 1/2/64?
Doom guy is implicitly the same fellow having been trapped in Hell, ripping and tearing, but UAC has never heard of him, so he's not that guy who refused to shoot unarmed civilians. Unless he's been fighting in Hell so long (until he was refrigerated) that the universe as we know it did a full loop
and that's a long time

>> No.3692575

He was fighting demons in hell after 64 for a very, very long time. Till he was finally captured by the demons and had his armor removed and then himself sealed in a coffin. He wakes up from that coffin at the start of Doom 4.

>> No.3692582

my theory is
>doomguy stays in hell to rip and tear for eternity

And no, I was talking of the one who betrays Argent D'nuir to Hell in order to get his son. I thought it was the Doomguy, since the Night Sentinels ghosts seem to know him. Or at least respect him.

By the Betrayer, you mean the guy who made the armor, or the guy who betrayed Argent Something?

The guy who Betrayed Argent whatever because the Icon of Sin was his son.

The person who made the armour was some women from Earth/another Earth.

I like the flamethrower in Marathon because it's a good alternative to killing a group of organic/unarmored enemies real easily (as opposed to the fusion pistol), but I always hesitate to use it more often because of the fact that you have about three canisters of gasoline (which is comparatively low ammo to other weapons) but I also forget the fact that each tank of gas actually has quite a lot of fuel to burn. I'm not a Doom editing expert. I just have some basic knowledge of the limitations of the original Doom engine. No idea how much those limitations have changed. I know the original engine can't have angled slopes, rooms above rooms or any horizontally moving sectors. Something that the Build Engine does have. Well, the rooms above rooms can't be rendered simultaneously but the illusion of them is possible.

Doom64 has some amazing level design tricks to get around limitations made by masking platform movement by making them silent and instant.

Quake has aged.

That's doomguy and various lads near him.

Crash wasn't the one he killed.

Phobos was not directly known, but he seemed to be turning into a demon.

He seems to be legitimately mute this time around- despite his grunts and screams in the prior.

He still enjoys playing with toys, and sometimes acts with them extensively. It would be surmised that in any attempts to speak, he would instead pull out several small toys to demonstrate what he means.

He may have screamed his vocal chords out.

Hot damn, that last level was fun. Armed to the teeth with rockets, grenades, gasoline, and bullets, just let your whole arsenal loose and blow/burn everything the fuck up. The lack of a final boss style encounter, like facing off with one last juggernaut, made the level's end feel kind of lackluster, and the end terminal's placement was kinda odd.
Overall, really fun game and I'm excited to start Marathon 2, would recommend playing if you haven't tried it yet.
