However, I must bring up one possible counterpoint.

Super Mario Bros., or Super Mario Bros. Deluxe? On the one hand, the latter has a smaller screen that you can't see as much on. But it has so many bonus features like the boo races, some of Lost Levels, multiplayer races, and most importantly (imo) the score attack mode. If we are to ignore context and impact when we view these games, and look at them in a vacuum, wouldn't Deluxe clearly stand out as superior?
