Is this worth playing? It kind of rubs me wrong that Koopa is part of your team. He is supposed to be a villain isn't he?

> It kind of rubs me wrong that Koopa is part of your team
More of an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" situation.

>> No.3689634

>Koopa

You triple-nigger, there is no character named "Koopa"... Bowser is the American name and King Koopa was the Japanese name...

Although it's now just standardized as "Bowser, King of Koopa" to make things easier.

And yes, the game is amazing but pretty easy. The only guy you can really lose to is Jinx and Culex the optional bonus bosses.

Totally worth playing, even if it is relatively easy. But there are still tons of secrets and Easter eggs that you can miss in just one play through that it is easy to pick back up again. And you can always try with a different party.

One of my favorite games.

It isn't your typical Mario game. Sort of the first time the Mario games were deconstructed and laughed at from a meta-angle.

If you play with an open-mind you'll enjoy it. It's essentially the father of Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi anyway.

>Koopa
Jap detected.

The game is of the best SNES games so play it. It also makes perfect sense for Bowser to be on your team.

In real life they would tell him to fuck right off

I don't think so. The world was being invaded by fucking aliens. You're not going to be considering that in an alien invasion.

And historically mortal enemies have teamed up to defeat a common enemy. See WW2 where the USA teamed up with the USSR to defeat the Nazis, even providing armaments to the soviets.

I lol'd at this response.

Super Mario RPG has the deepest lore of any game I know other than Ocarina of Time.

>inspired by EarthBound of all games
>an installment in the acclaimed series of Mario lore

I should have realized this sooner.

>> No.3689881

It's mostly easy, but it's one of the most relaxing and enjoyable retro RPGs out there: great music, great locations, lots of different things going on, and doesn't slavishly rely on the Mario IP as much as it interprets it in a wholly unique way.

You know who cares about this? Autists. I know the term has been passed around like a 3-dollar whore, but to get hung up on such a stupid, minor thing to the point that it has you reluctant to play the game is extremely autistic, or at the very least symptomatic of some kind of mental disorder.

Don't play the game, OP. Please. Don't.

The bad guy in Mario RPG is a much bigger threat than Bowser, it's a "wishes will never come true" scenario, so he joins the party out of desperation. In-game he's played as more of an anti-hero than a straight villain, and actually has some endearing moments.

Wasn't he called Koopa in one of the US Mario cartoons?

What's your stance on the name "Toadstool" anon

And the whole Koopalings being henchman vrs. Bowser's kids?

I for one still enjoy the Mario Bros from Brooklyn backstory.

>Wasn't he called Koopa in one of the US Mario cartoons?

He was. they only used the name "Bowser" like two times, very casually.

I have no idea why they did that. It's not like "Koopa" was his localized name.

Not that DiC entertainment was the most on the ball when it comes to their video game cartoons. Taking a look at literally anything in Captain N could tell you that.

Play more games other than Mario and Zelda, kiddo.

How many of you found the Casino without using a guide? I played this as a kid and never found it. Years later I played the ROM and looked up a guide on how to get to the Casino, and I thought there's no way anyone could find it legit.

I found the platforming to be shitty honestly, but its a comfy rpg, very charming. If you liked the paper mario series then likely this will appeal to you.

>>3689784
This. you are mistaken OP, that is Browser's team, he explicitly says so during the game a few times.

>>3690269
casino effort wasnt worth the prizes. oddly enough i did accomplish the 50 and eventually 100 consecutive jumps for the super suit ultimate armor.
