I want to get this so bad but everywhere I search it's so fucking expensive.

Anyone knows what's the status of the NES mini? Will there be more in stock?

Do you think they will release a mini SNES in the future?

Also retro replica/relaunch general thread.

>> No.3688323

Just get a raspberry pi and put retropie on it, it's the same shit for the same price or cheaper.

>> No.3688335

I'm a hardware pleb, don't really understand how to do all that.

>> No.3688338

Just wait til after Christmas. The prices are sure to plummet then.

If you're buying one as a gift, you're either gonna have to camp out in front of a store for hours, or just pony up the dough for some scumbag scalper.

>> No.3688340

Bestbuy is getting them in stock tomorrow, but you would probably have to wait in line.

Then get an actual NES and a flashcart. More expensive, but nearly the entire library of games with none of the NES mini's flaws.

>literally paying for an emulator and about 30MB in roms

>> No.3688529

There are people selling shit like the Rasp Pi in a small case already loaded with loonix and emulators, for $10 to $20 more than the price of the chip + case. I see quite a few of them on the huehue eBay subsidiary Mercado Livre.

I assume eBay doesn't allow that, but maybe there are local sellers on Craigslist?

>> No.3688530

have computer?
just get a usb controller and a fullset of nes roms
it cant possibly be worse than a nes mini

>> No.3688535

>>3688529
Its really not that hard to do. The case literally snaps together and the Linux distros for it are totally plug and play.

If you've ever played with Legos or written a USB installer disk you should be able to get it going.

>> No.3688538

I don't care at all about the system. I just want a controller to use with my Wii but those are even more scarce than the consoles.

>> No.3688545

I built a retropi box a few months ago and it's pretty good, but I still want the nes calssic. I'll be honest with you, it's mostly because I think it would be a cool shelf piece.

>> No.3688558

>>3688545
It's a very cool shelf piece, and it's not a bad emulator box either. The input lag is great, video quality is impressive, and when they're available at retail again, it's a totally reasonable price.

>>3688517
Sold out until at least next year.

These small guys, I swear they need to anticipate the holiday shopping, the niggers were sold out a week after Thanksgiving.

>> No.3688632

I'm halfway through my rpi build for my grandmother-in-law. Put it in an NES cart and I'm mounting it on a wooden plackard for weight so it doesn't side off the entertainment center when someone grabs the controller.

Going great, still have to have the label printed. I might bug Staples for that for a few hours until they get it right. My printer blows.

>> No.3688636

Honestly there are slightly better options, but if you're not going original hardware or hardware clones like the AVS, just get a Wii and throw homebrew on that shit. It's 99.5% of the experience of these other emulator-in-a box-consoles but you can get one at a yard sale for $30.

>> No.3688658

played it - the input lag on a 50 inch vizio was terrible

>> No.3688720

>>3688319
NES mini is kinda shit though. Some classics mixed with random garbage make for a lackluster selection. Also has some weird technical quirks.

Get a nes and flash cart.

>> No.3688736

alls i can tell you is i wanted one to put in the bathroom to play while i was taging a shid, but i said fugg it and got a raspberry and haven't looked back :D

>just get a Wii and throw homebrew on that shit
29 of 30 games were released on Wii Virtual Console, with the 30th, Dr Mario, released of Wii U virtual Console. Anyone with a softmodded Wii can play almost every game included with legit WADs and the final one with an injected WAD. Not to mention 60+ more legit Wii VC WADs not included on the NES Classic. Aside from homebrew emulators allowing you to play the entire library.

some people just want to buy a box and play mario

Some ways that the NES Mini could've been improved-

- Lengthen the controller coed
- Include a menu button so there's no need to get up and hit reset
Include a means to update firmware and fix issues like the sound lag

And include more games, 30 isn't enough. My suggestions-
>Shadow Of The Ninja
>ShatterHand
>Adventures of LoLo
>Kickle Cubicle
>Metal Storm
>City Connection
>Solstice
>Yoshi
>Gun Nac
>Section-Z
>Rush'n Attack
>Magic of Scheherazade
>Kung Fu Heroes
>Gargoyle's Quest II
>Solomon's Key 1 & 2/Fire 'n Ice
>DuckTales 1 & 2
>1942
>Adventure Island 1 & 2
>Air Fortress
>Castlevania 3
>Batman - The Video Game
>Bomberman 1 & 2
>Mega Man 1 & 3
>Contra
>Bionic Commando
>Bump'n'Jump
>3-D Battles of World Runner
>Rad Racer
>Code_Name - Viper
>Blaster Master
>Street Fighter 2010
>Track & Field 1 & 2
>Vice - Project_Doom
>Faxanadu
>Jackal
>Blades Of Steel
>Legendary Wings
>Life Force
>Side Pocket
>The Guardian Legend
>Low G Man - The Low Gravity Man
>Ninja Gaiden II & III
>Power Blade
>Q*Bert
>River City Ransom
>Journey to Silius
>R.C. Pro-Am II
>BattleToads
>Snow Brothers
>Super Spy Hunter
>Nintendo's Tetris
>Tetris 2
>Panic Restaurant
>Super Spy Hunter
>Gun.Smoke
>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1, 2, and 3
>Gyruss
>Burai Fighter
>Wario's Woods
>Zanac
>Stinger
And a few import titles
>Nazo no Murasamejou
>Gradius 2
>Ganbare Goemon! 1 & 2
>Super Mario Bros. 2/The Lost Levels
>Devil World
>Twinbee 1 & 3
>Vs. Excitebike
>Falsion
>Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa
>Ninja Jajamaru-kun

I realize certain titles wouldn't make the cut like the Rare games & licensed titles but whatever, more games.

You should be playing it on a CRT faggot.

The games graphics were specifically designed for how they look on a CRT. HDMI NES is just upscaled shit.

The only plug n' play I ever bothered getting was an Atari Flashback 2 since it was a reproduction of the actual original hardware instead of fucking emulation, was compatible with original controllers, and included some nifty exclusives.

That's why they made the NES Classic controller cord four fucking inches long...so you don't have to get up off your La-Z-Boy, fatarse.
