Who /MVS/ here?

You mean, owning the cabinet? That's too much of a luxury for me, but I still love Neo Geo

I'd love to have the actual cabinet, but the Raspberry Pi surprisingly does a respectable job of it.

Is there anywhere else like the Humble Bundle that is legit and distributing the roms? The ones I picked up through there work perfectly but there are a few key titles like Last Blade 2 that weren't on there and the older versions of them that I've got don't work.

??
That's weird. Last Blade 2 has been working perfectly on FBA for years. Maybe try a different rom, not sure you can get it legally, but does it matter anyway?…

>>3688034
Probably not, but I really liked the way that they handled it at the humble bundle I wish more companies would work out a deal like that.

Totally agree.

Still, Last Blade 2 has been working fine for years. There's no single problem I am aware of linked to it working on FBA. I guess you use RetroPie, and it has FBA core AFAIK. If you use it and you still can't run LB2, the problem is probably in the ROM.

Getting real cabinet is pretty much impossible (never seen them in my country), building my own cab is an option, but I would make it multi-platform, not just MVS.
But I own MVS board I did consolize though. MV-1FZ, with 5V mod and stereo amp mod and 138-in-1 cartridge with fixed issues and dip switch mod.
Still need to finish building a case for it, because right now it's a PCB and a mess of wires, but I still love it.

love the BIG RED
but shit's expensive

I own a 4 slot cabinet and a 1 slot pcb but I am too much of a fag to get off my ass and fix them up.

I have a 4 slot. But it's been at my parents for over a decade so i just emulate.

>> No.3688262

What were the most common Neo Geo games around your area?

For a while, it seemed like 80% of all MVS cabinets I found were 2 slots with Puzzle Bobble and Metal Slug 5.

>> No.3688384

>>3688262
Puzzle Bobble was so popular it was the most bootlegged cartridge on the Neo.

Around here it was always Puzzle Bobble and Metal Slug 1 or 3. The 4 slot at my movie theatre had Slug 3, Puzzle Bobble, King of Fighters 98 and Sengoku 3

Lakka actually, but yeah it uses the Retroarch FBA core. Its almost certainly the roms that are at fault since Garou and the other games picked up from Humble work perfectly.

The only issue was the detection didn't work so I had to put together a NEO GEO playlist file manually and it doesn't have icons for the system or the games like it does for other platforms. Something I'm going to have to look into probably just by renaming and/or copying some things.

>> No.3688537

used to play metal slug all the time at the chinese laundromat near me
if they were still around i'd try to buy the cab

>>3688547

Well for what it's worth at least Magician Lord does not sound muffled on the CD as in the MVS version.

I overpaid for a 6 slot that I bought about six years ago. The cabinet is in horrible condition, and the board is half dead. The thing is so fucking huge you can't fit it through any standard 28'' door frame, so it's been stuck in my kitchen since 2010. Really wish I had done a bit more research before I bought it. Would have gotten a 2 or 4 slot instead.

I have several MVS carts.

Wrong.

>> No.3692102

How hard is it to find a 6-slot?

>> No.3692269

I used to own one. Sold it to make room for pinball machines.

>> No.3692434

I picked up a 1-slot board earlier this year because I got a good price on it with a game included, but I haven't been able to run it yet. I was hoping to scrape together some temporary rig to at least test the hardware, but all the options are so expensive (I suppose I should have expected that with the reputation Neo Geo has, but oh well, I'm an idiot)
