No, Nintendo completely recycled 99% of the assets from Ocarina and passed it off as a new game. The VERY least they could have done is introduce some new characters and enemies considering it was supposed to be a new land, much like how in Link's Awakening it was all characters we hadn't seen up until that point other than a few enemies.

If MM was a romhack, it would be one of the best romhacks ever. Yes, it uses most of the 3D models from OOT, but also include many new ones, and the most important thing, 3 extra characters to play as (4 if we count oni link, which is basically OP adult Link).
It's clearly a game made by the same devs of OOT, I find it hard to believe OOT vs MM is actually a thing. As in, that there are people who genuinely love one and hate the other.

I played both as a kid when they came out.
Loved OOT. Hated MM.
MM just feels odd your first time through. Especially if you've played OOT prior.

Now, with that said. MM is a lot like Link's Adventure on the NES. For the most part hated. But if you don't really view it as a "zelda title" it's a solid game all the same.

Gotta say though, MM has it's merits. And is in no way deserving of all the hate it gets.

Its an awesome sequel and i dont think in any way that reused models make it bad.
I am happy we got something very similair to oot if you think of all the shit Nintendo does to his franchises.

Seriously though I like both games for different reasons.

Funny enough some people talk about the asset using as a kid I was annoyed link and his sword didnt use the oot model.

Like the kokiri sword looking different and link having more detailed hair annoyed me because of continuity. These days I wish someone would do a rom hack to hack in links mm model in oot.

Also annoyed me firce detiy was literally adult link with a wavy biggorons sword and magic.
