Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden coins
Super Mario Land 3 - Wario Land
Wario Land 2
Wario Land 3
Kirby's Dreamland

All fantastic, charming and well polished platformers that did well for the hardware.

Also Pokemon Pinball can be had really cheap, I put tonnes of hours into it.

What kind of games do you like? MGS Ghost Babel gets recommended all the time but it's worth it.

If you like RPGs and weird pinball mini games pic related is cool too.

TMNT III: Radical Rescue

It plays somewhat like a Metroid game and was designed by some of the devs of SOTN. You go around this interconnected environment saving the other turtles, and as you find them you gain new abilities to reach new areas.
It's really fun but can also be a bit challenging, especially the boss rush at the end.

Pic related. It's somewhat of an open world/top down metroidvania where you go around the world solving puzzles, beating up enemies and collecting looney toons. It's longer and more varied than your typical GBC action game, almost like an RPG

If you like rpgs, you cannot miss Dragon Quest III. One of the best (if not the best) rpg of the game boy.

Op here.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I've looked into a few of them. To answer some questions, I'm not real big into rpgs unless they are strategy ones like Shining Force. Probably should of also mentioned before that $20 is the max I'm willing to spend on a gb game.

Also how well do the lights in pic related work? My neck/back start aching after a few minutes leaning trying to get the best lighting for the screen.

So far I'm loving Links Awakening. Few annoyances here and there but overall fantastic. Already beat Asteroids. Only took me two shits but tbf I had that one growing up. Solid Good time waster tho.

Wormlights work okay, but they create a glare somewhere on the screen, depending on how you aim it.

I prefer a headlamp though.
Sure you'll look really dorky with a headlamp, but it does a really good job of lighting the screen, and creates less of a glare than a wormlight.

Probably because they're one of the most popular handhelds to have ever existed.
They're also in high demand for making chiptunes because of LSDJ and how iconic they are.

OP update.

Picked these games up. Have played Tetris DX the most by far of the three but it has to be one of the best versions I've played. R Type is awesome but it's been put on the backburner for now so I can try to finish Links awakening. Metal Walker seems ok but I have only tried it out for about 10 minutes or so. Will put more effort in later.
