Anyone ever play with one of these? I got on the other day and slapped it together last night.

It's pretty rad. It plays some hack roms as well, and generally works like a charm. Any drawbacks I haven't notice yet or...?

Pic related. It's a quick mockup of the sticker I'll be putting on my case today. (shitty quality image, the actual image is a higher res)

Incompatibility with games that use addon chips is what keeps me from getting one. Waiting for SD2SNES to add SuperFX.

Otherwise, I agree it's a solid piece of hardware.

Yeah... That is a bit of a drawback. I rationalized it by figuring most SuperFX games that I want I would want to have actual cartridges of. Only problem with that is Super Mario RPG costs at least 50$ whenever I see it.

Alas, my only Everdrive is the Turbo Everdrive, so I can't buy a piece of shit sports game to gut for a cart shell. Ah well.

SOME DAY I'll have a reason to buy something from the dollar bin at the local vidya trading post.

Super fx was only used in like 8 games.
Namely starfox and pilotwings.

You could just grab the carts.

>Pilotwings

I think you mean Stunt Race FX.

Plus Yoshi's Island, Doom and Star Fox 2. For the price of the four and a reproduction of SF2, it'd be cheaper to buy the SD2SNES. Not to mention the various more obscure games it supports over the Super Everdrive.

oh yeah, pilot wings is DSP-1 not super fx

That's what I did. Baseball game. I think I'm going to make a cardboard cart for the board though. For kicks.

Like I said, I kinda want those games in actual carts anyway.

Anyone have any idea what rom hacks work on a super everdrive? I mean like SMW level replacements and the like.

Fair enough, I wasn't saying the SD2SNES is the better option, just the one I'm choosing.

I'm pretty sure 'basic' hacks like SMW level changeup ones should work. There are some older hacks that were specifically written for zsnes that won't work on actual hardware. You can probably test using bsnes, if it plays in that there's no reason it shouldn't on a Super Everdrive.

Might give that a go. Would SNES9X work for that as well, or no? I just tried a romhack on 9x that failed miserably.

Is Zangief raping Link?

Reason I say bsnes is because it's 1:1 with actual SNES hardware. Snes9x isn't, it has all sorts of tweaks and hacks to make it work with certain games. You also don't need to worry about bsnes running at any decent framerate, as long as the game loads and you can play through a few minutes of it without any issues, it'll likely work on the SuperED.

You can just use an older version, does the job the same.
