If it's someone from eBay u are buying from U have to look at it from the sellers perspective. Sending a snes loose game to Italy lets say would cost 20$ let's say. But the seller doesn't want to get screwed so u gotta add tracking. But you can't add tracking to the cheap option so you have to go with the ONLY other option that adds tracking. Which is fucking double or triple the fucking price.
It sucks on both ends.

Italy has the worst post office known to fucking man. More than 50% of the countries incoming foreign mail is stolen every year. It's fucking shady as fuck. So if you don't spend/charge 100$ to get tracking/delivery confirmation on that package you are buying/sending, then you might as well be throwing whatever money away because either the buyer will claim "eyyyy I never got it lmao" or it will just get "lost".
And the post office there couldn't give a fuck less. It's horrible. But it's not like there aren't other bad post offices.

Never ups/dhl anything out of the country. Ups can get mad expensive with shipping costs within the us itself, I wouldn't even want to know what they would charge for overseas shipping if they even offer it.
Ups is good for mailing giant oversized things only in my opinion. You can literally ride a bike to their store and say "I wanna ship this" and they will say ok and charge you.
USPS wouldn't do that lol. But usps would charge much less probably

I get packages from Japan via DHL almost exclusively and it's the best carrier I've ever used
they make multiple delivery attempts and haul ass...packages go from tokyo to chicago to minneapolis up here to northern minnesota in 2 days, sometimes less than 2 days

Semi related to all this. A couple months back I was trying to sell an LP vinyl on ebay. Somewhat rare, I don't want it, so I figured I could make a decent amount selling it. I listed it 3 times and eventually gave up trying to sell it for now. Every buyer backed out because the shipping from US to Europe was too much. I believe it sold to an Italian, a Greek, and then a Spaniard. Every time I listed it I would get questions from Europeans asking about the shipping price and they bitched. It was about $50-60 to ship iirc. The worst part is the record sold for almost $300 or so and they bitched about the shipping price. I said fuck it and I'll try to sell in the future, but I don't know if it's worth it.

I buy vinyl sometimes, and can get 1 LP for 5-10 euro shipped to my country from Europe, with trackable airmail.
Shipping LP from Japan is usually 1200-1500 JPY, depends on packaging. A bit more for EMS.
But shipping costs for LP from the USA start from $25 and go higher. And for this price it is untraceable airmail. Sometimes sellers insist on paying for "express" shipping which is 2-3 times slower than JP EMS. Sorrybut this is a bit too much.
