What's that ONE game that you can play over and over again and never get bored.

I knew a guy who beat Final Fantasy 7 over 100 times. Not speedrunning, just normal playing. He said that the game never gets bored, and the game provides some sort of catharsis for him.

For me, I would have to say Zelda for the SNES. Although I've only beaten it 4-5 times over the years, I enjoy the game thoroughly from beginning to end and have the urge to play it again as soon as I beat it.

I've done at least 30 playthroughs of FFT, mostly casual, a few single character, and a few single class challenge.

It's like your friend said, cathartic. I played it recently cause I had to put my dog down, but I usually do a playthrough at least once a year.

Then theres just stuff like Mega Man X2 that I can burn through in like an hour and a bit and I've probably beaten that like 200 times.

Sonic 2 for me. I beat it at least once every 3 months. I ether see how fast I can beat it, how high a score I can get, if I can beat it with no rings, find all the chaos emeralds. Kinda like mediation for me. Another high one on my list is Kirby Super Star so many great memories and really fun for a mostly mindless platformer I only play it every few years though.

Retro gaming means consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games on platforms launched in 1999 and earlier. Try Grim Dawn, it is very Diablo-esque with satisfying combat and a lot of variety when it comes to builds. As the name implies it is quite grim dark and demonic/eldritch like Diablo. Multiplayer is great with friends..

It was made by a dev group with a lot of the former Iron Lore Entertainment employees who worked on the action rpg rival of Diablo, Titan Quest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqgGNHmrcU4 here some gameplay footage.

If you do decide on it, make sure you tick veteran difficulty, it increases the monster count and they hit harder, the first act is a bit of a snoozefest without vet ticked.

>> No.3626496

I've bought:
>GC
>PS2
>PC
>360
>PSP
I pirated the Dreamcast version as well because I didn't have a DC until after was discontinued.
I tend to play the 360 version the most often due to widescreen support, HDMI output, online leaderboards and I just plain find the 360 controller very comfortable to hold. PC has that stuff too but that port is trash.
I know it's nowhere near as great as playing on an arcade set-up with a wheel/gear stick but it's not a big problem for me.
The lack of original soundtrack isn't a big deal for me as I've already got all the original songs on my custom Crazy Taxi playlist and while the changed location names is annoying at first, I got used to it.
One day (when I actually own a house instead of renting) I hope to save up enough additional money on top of my normal savings to purchase a sit-down Crazy Taxi cabinet for my personal use.
